I like it. Sturdy, unlike my older, cheaper deep fryer, which had an unstable feel to it. Timer is helpful--prevents leaving it on accidentally. Basket is larger than most, so items like FF can be spread out and fry quicker. Only downside is that this model is a little bulky (its squarer than most), especially if you live in a place with limited storage. And there's no real place in/on the unit to store the detachable cord. But this one looks like it will last a long time, and I'm glad I bought it..

After about a monhth, I have been pleasantly surprised at the power and convenience of this cooker. It easily stands above other cookers like the Fry Daddy and such in the time it takes to reach and maintain the desired temp. I bought it mainly for frying fish and it works great. The timer is a nice feature in case you forget to unplug or turn it off. I recommend this one to anyone needing fast heat and ample pot size and will buy it again when this one breaks or wears out.

We purchased the T-Fal Family Pro fryer about 4 weeks ago. It may be our downfall - we've never eaten much fried food, but this makes it so easy - and quick, and much neater than frying on the stove, that we have been having something fried about twice a month. The first thing I did was a huge batch of chicken fingers - actually cooked in 3 batches. Each batch was about 9 fingers (I made them myself, not frozen) and they cooked perfectly. I was finished in under 25 minutes. I've also done french fries, potato chips, sweet potato chips, three Indian dishes (on two different occasions) including pakoras (several kinds) and samosas. I'm not sure, but it seems like less grease is absorbed by the foods than when frying on the stove. This is based on the amount of oil that needs to be "replaced" before reusing the unit. Clean up is easy - as is cleaning the entire unit. After doing some okra there was a lot of corn meal in the bottom of the unit, so we strained the grease, washed everything well and since it was only the 3rd use of the grease returned it to the fryer to be used a few more times. I would recommend this product to anyone considering a deep fryer, especially if they did large quantities of anyting. There are only two of us, but I frequently do lots of somethng or another (egg rolls and won tons especially, for the freezer)so didn't even consider a small capacity fryer. The unit does get the counter under it very hot so I have been setting it on an overturned baking sheet. I also wish that the cord was just a tiny bit longer, so I would be able to place the unit farther from the edge of the center island counter where the cord must go over the edge to reach the plug - but can understand the safety concern of a short cord.

I bought this deep fryer from Target (needed it immediately, instead of waiting for it to be shipped) and I must say it works GREAT! Very easy setup. After about 15 minutes of unboxing, and cleaning it, I was off to frying chicken wings. The timer setting was perfect. It cooked very even. Was able to fry 20 wings in one batch was nice. It is a great deep fryer for the price. I highly recommend it.

I almost returned this as soon as I took it out of the box. The temp digits are so small (like an 8 font) I could barely see them. I gave it a chance and I kept it because it did a nice job cooking the food and it is so easy to clean. After a few uses all the printing on the control panel (including the temp digits) started to melt off. I was planning on returning it the next day, and then I had no choice because while I was prepping my food and letting it heat up it just stopped working. The lights were off and it was cold. I tried unplugging it for a while but nothing worked, it was just dead.

This thing works great. All I had ever used before was a little bitty fry daddy. There are several pieces to this, so it makes for very easy cleaning. Other reviews of deep fryers talked about the temperature cooling down and having to wait for it to heat back up. Not this baby. Due to the higher wattage, this thing maintains it's temperature very well. I cooked a ton of food, chicken strips, fish fillets, shrimp, hush puppies and fries in about 40 minutes or so. I would def. recommend this fryer to anyone. It does take up a little more space than the smaller ones, but that's to be expected. It might be too big for a single person, but it's perfect for 2-6 people. The inexpensive price makes it even better. For $22 I cooked up 2 full meals for 3 people. At Long John Silver's, that would have been well over $50. People, this IS a really good deep fryer.

OK, so fried foods aren't on the top of the "nutritional" food pyramid.. they are still on the list of things my family and I like to eat, so I broke down and bought a fryer. I had been pan frying most things that need to be fried, or using my heavy stainless cookware to fry things that need more oil.. it all works, but boy the mess is unbelievable. This fryer is big enough to fry some food in. I can get all the fried shrimps and hushpuppies needed to feed a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 teen aged boys, done in this fryer, in about 20 minutes... I think it would fry two chicken breast halves at a time! The basket lowers into the hot oil under the lid, so there is no chance of oil splattering all over the place. The heating element keeps the oil at the desired temperature. The sides do not stay "cool", but they are not hot enough to burn you if you just casually touch it. Nearly all of it is dishwasher safe! Bonus :-) The window is not huge, but it is big enough to watch the food cook. The downsides to this unit is the heating element is hand wash, and its not that easy to wash with the wires on it. The timer is sketchy at best, and since I have not fried anything that needs to be in oil for more than 5 minutes, I have not seen the timer work.. it doesn't seem to "catch" to begin the countdown, unless you set it for more than 5 minutes. It is the old "egg timer" sort of wind up timer, which seems pretty retro when a digital doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to incorporate. The "filter" made me chuckle as its less a filter, and more a thin, flimsy metal mesh screen. I'm not sure what gets filtered with that, but whatever. At the end of the day, I'm glad I bought this fryer. Its a good value and a reasonable appliance for the money.

Good fryer for the money. Heats up in very little time. I made thin sliced fried potatoes just like my favorite Spanish Restaurant makes in Bayonne, NJ. Came out perfect the first time out.

I had the older model with the flat panel LCD screen and push button controls. First time used the backlight on the screen failed. Controls and timer weren't intuitive and difficult to program so I used a stopwatch to time cooking. Temps didn't hold consistent nor was heat up consistent sometimes it would come to temp in 5 mins other times 15. When it did work it was great, excellent capacity, basket raise and lower seemed strange the first time I used it but now I love it and think it's the best feature on the product. Mine finally died right in the middle of use the other night. I think the problems I had are strictly related to the flat panel model, I plan on buying the new knob control unit. Sometimes all this fancy programmable stuff is more of a headache than a benefit. The new unit with knob controls is the way to go, do yourself a favor and stay away from the older programmable model.

This is a great little deep fryer. The basket holds a good amount of food. 10 cheese sticks covered the bottom of the basket and I could have easily fried double that amount. It should do a dozen large chicken wings with ease. The lid and basket lowering mechanism is a nice addition. The filter in the lid may keep some grease smell in but I am not sure how much. I like the removable oil pan, and the element cleans up nicely. The manual states that solid shortening can be used, where as many state not to use it. The sides get hot, but no where near hot enough to burn you. The timer works well, some have commented that you have to pass the five minute mark for it to work, this is true, however if you need it to time for less than five minutes just go past the mark than back to the desired time. The oil cools off when food is dropped in as expected, but recovers very quickly.
