5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Fryer I've Ever Used, July 13, 2000
This review is from: T-Fal 3378100 Maxi Pro 2-3/4-Pound Capacity Deep Fryer (Kitchen)
I have been deep frying for many years. My father had restaurants; so I'm familiar with all types of fying. This fryer has more then beat my expectations for a home, deep fryer. I can only say the best things about this fryer. It heated up so quickly. It's large size capacity (I used 16 pieces of wings), and had room for more. They fried in just 13 minutes without being greasy. The oil level was at the same mark when I finished as when I started. The lid kept all the mess in fryer with no splatters. Clean up was a breeze. For a family of 2, which my husband and I are now; or for a large family or entertaing (which we do often), this fryer is a MUST! Going to buy one for both my daughters for Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Deep Fryer for your Dollar, December 24, 2001

This unit is probably one of the best deep fryer units that I've used next to a commercial fryer. Just gave it a workout frying several pounds of struffel, 24 baseball size Italian Rice balls and and eggplant. The unit didn't even break a sweat. The oil (soy oil) didn't burn or smoke, and it maintained the temperature perfectly. The handy timer allowed me handle other tasks while frying. What's amazing is the oil level was the same after frying everything. There was minimal frying odor and the clean up was a breeze. I can't vouch for the durability yet since I just received the unit. It's a pretty solid design that looks like it will last many years. This is one appliance will not get buried away for ever. All in all, two thumbs up.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a Wonderful Product, August 27, 2001

I bought my T-Fal 3378000 Maxi Pro deep fryer mainly because my old one quit working. I hunted all the stores and looked at the different products out there. Not one compared to this one.The size, and style and clean up is out of this world. I thought I'd never find one I liked. This product is perfect for a family size meal, and or for two people, that's whats so great, I'ts for all! I like the oblong basket it's easier to stir the food, and the see thru window is great. It all comes apart, for easy clean up. Yes I give this item 5 stars and a full moon if I could. The cool touch exterior I think gets hot and could definetley burn a child very easily. Please keep it back from children, also I noticed the bottom gets very warm also.

It also has a awkward, dangerous style lid,I do not recommend!
What attracted me to this fryer was its capacity and the ease of cleaning, and that it is , but that's all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work and bad design, March 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: T-Fal 3378100 Maxi Pro 2-3/4-Pound Capacity Deep Fryer (Kitchen)
I just bought a new Maxi-Pro and it's a huge disappointment. The max temperature, though stated as 374, doesn't go above 330 - so the food its like a sponge full of oil. In addition, the design of the basket handle is very inconvenient - you can remove it each time when you close the cover, and try to reattach it when lifting the basket, or you can sink it in the fry pan and splash oil all over the place when you remove the basket. My recommendation - run away as fast as you can from this product!

Temperature is the most important thing, this one's got a powerful heat element and precise temperature control.

If you like quality kitchen appliances - get this one. It doesn't have some of those other "features" that you don't really need, and it produces excellent results. While it has a large capacity when necessary - it works equally well with small batches.

1.0 out of 5 stars A totally inadequate deep fryer, February 19, 2002
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: T-Fal 3378100 Maxi Pro 2-3/4-Pound Capacity Deep Fryer (Kitchen)
What a disappointment! This fryer, a very nice design, simply doesn't work very well. The frying temperature controller has an offset of 35-40 deg F. That is, the actually frying oil is much cooler than the temperature setting indicates. And, is inadequate to satisfactorily deep fry many foods. They don't get crisp, take too long to cook and/or are greasy. I measured the oil temperature with two kitchen thermometers as well as a recording themocouple to ensure I was getting accurate readings. Part of my engineer training. So, the first unit went back and we got a replacement...which had the same problem! It went back too. We purchased a DeLonghi fryer having a fairly similar design which works as expected. Doing a little web research I stumbled across a safety recall that T-Fal had on an earlier model for faulty temperature controllers: they heated the oil so hot it melted the plastic base. Could it be that the manufacturer has dialed down their temperature controllers to prevent a reoccurance of this problem and now have a product that cooks at too low a temperature?

1.0 out of 5 stars Temperature Controls Not Correct, July 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: T-Fal 3378100 Maxi Pro 2-3/4-Pound Capacity Deep Fryer (Kitchen)
Oil temperatures are too cold making foods come out soggy not crisp. I measured the temperature of the oil after having problems with soggy foods and with the Deep Fryer set at 374 degrees the oil temperature was 338 degrees (measured with three different styles of thermometers after an extended warm-up period). This is not an isolated problem I have found after reading the other reviews for this Deep Fryer. I also have experienced an intermittent problem that the Deep fryer will shut it's self off during cooking requiring the controller to be reset. Think hard before spending your money on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Has To Be The Best Fryer I Ever Purchased, June 22, 2001

This has to be the best fryer I have purchased, The large frying room in the basket sets the other brands aside. Great for when the whole family is sitting to eat. No need to keep jumping up and cooking another load, 1 basket cooks more than enough for a family of 4. The quickness of the grease heat up time is very fast and the frying quality is outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best by far!, January 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: T-Fal 3378100 Maxi Pro 2-3/4-Pound Capacity Deep Fryer (Kitchen)
This is my third deep fryer and the best out of the previous two. The clean up is a breeze, since the unit comes apart and you are able to wash the different pieces separately. My two previous deep fryers did not come apart, so dispensing of the old oil and washing the units were such a big hassle. Plus, the Maxi Pro has the immersible heating element and it really makes a difference with the amount of oil that is being absorbed in the food. With the previous deep fryers, (without the immersible heating elements), the foods were not as crispy and were more oily. My husband and daughter both noticed a difference in the quality of food, too. I love this deep fryer and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to purchase one.
