This is my first pressure cooker, so I really don't have much to compare to. I have used it several times and I really like it. First of all, I love the way food comes out in this cooker. So far, I have really liked all the recipes I have tried. Second, it is pretty easy to clean up. Althoguh it says in the manaul that the cooker can be washed in the dishwasher, I prefer to hand wash. I also use a bit of mineral oil on the seal after each wash to help maintain it. The instructions for use are pretty straight forward too. I just need to find some more recipes to try out and I will be all set!

This is my third pressure cooker over a number of years. It is considerably heavier than the others I've used and well constructed. The digital timer is really convenient, as is the adjustable pressure gauges which my previous ones didn't have. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has previously used older types of pressure cookers. I'm not sure it would be suitable for canning purposes due to the size, but it it perfect for family dinners.

I like this unit. I have had it for a few days and so far so good. It only comes with a 10 year warranty as I guess T-Fal is not bold enough to give it a lifetime(makes me wonder about its longevity). Timer is cool to have and locking mechanism is safe. Nice weight and finish.

I have my grandmother's rocker pressure cooker and the difference is night and day. The T-Fal is extremely easy to use. The first night, I made the roast leg of lamb in 30 minutes. My 9 year old asked me to make it again for his birthday! My only suggestion, if you don't like mushy veggies don't put them in at the beginning of cooking your roast. If you make a roast with veggies, put the roast and liquid in and cook it separate from the veggies. The last 10 minutes, release the pressure, add the veggies to the roast, bring back up to pressure for another 10 minutes. That way your carrots and potatoes aren't mushy.
Overall, I am extremely impressed.

The above mentioned pressure cooker was received in the mail promptly and in very good condition. This is my first experience with a pressure cooker. The manual and recipe book are very helpful. I expecially like the smart timer. So far everything I have cooked in it has turned out wonderful and in a fraction of the time it would of taken had I not used the pressure cooker. I would not hesitate to recommend this cooker to anyone. Thanks again AMAZON.COM

Great pressure cooker,

This is my second pressure cooker (I have used my first one several years), and I like this one a lot! Easy to use, and works great. One of my favorite features is smart timer...it automatically starts when the right pressure level is reached, and lets me know with beep sound. I use this cooker at least twice a week.

I love my T-Fal pressure cooker. It's easy to use, as pressure cookers can be daunting at first. The soups and meals I have prepared in the pressure cooker can not compare to the standard way of cooking. Soups take on the average 10-25 minutes, depending if meat is cooked. Orzo and other rice dishes average about 4 minutes. Flavor is not sacrificed at all using the T-fal pressure cooker, as vegetables and meats never taste overcooked, as if the food was cooked all day on a stove. The T-fal pressure is safe, adequate, and easy to use. I would also recommend a cookbook, "Pressure Perfect", by Lorna Sass. It offers wonderful recipes for the T-fal pressure cooker, especially if you are like me starting using a pressure cookerfor the first time!

In India, where I grew up, practically every household I went to had at least one pressure cooker. They are difficult to find in the usual Sears-Target-nameyourpoison circuit, so I was delighted to find one on Amazon. Why?
Because, primarily, they are efficient. Indian cooking is time, fuel, water and dish consuming, and the pressure cooker is great at saving all four; for example, a one-and-a-half-hour beef stew job takes 25 minutes, slightly more (maybe 5 minutes) if the beef is frozen (thawing is not necessary; save additionally on microwave time, energy and dishes). Veggies can be steamed in a steamer dish in the same cooker, saving additional time, fuel, etc etc. You get my point. This cooker is stainless steel and cleans easily, provided it's done soon after cooking. The handles are heat resistant, great for pouring out hot dishes. The so-called "smart timer" is smart enough but, like nerds eveywhere, not sturdy; it doesn't like water, which is okay for a nerd but not so for a cooking vessel. The accompanying manual is very helpful in getting one off to a start; in general, I set the timer for a third of the time that I would normally simmer a given dish for. In summary, an excellent purchase.

Got my pressure cooker a week ago. Only cooked Risotto and Beefr Stew in it. Loved the stew, my Italian family was very pleased with Risotto (big compliment for me). Risotto took about 15 minutes to cook, stew about 45 minutes.
I was scared to use it at first (yes, everyone knows those stories about food flying all over the place but do you actually know anybody it happened to? I don't.) I believe this is the only PC with a timer that starts counting down AFTER the pressure is reached. Very handy. Timer comes off for cleaning of the lid. I love the fact that it has 2 regular handles (not a long one like other pressure cookers that is not easy to carry when the pot is full). Everything is a push of a button (lock, unlock...), no twisting and putting in place, just push that button and it's closed. About the recipes: I bought a book on Pressure cooking. Nice recipes but I always modify mine to what's available in my pantry and refrigerator. Cooker comes with a small recipe book, I shouldn't have bought another book as you can adapt any recipe to pressure cooking just knowing how much liquid to put in (that you can always get from that little book it came with). Don't waist your money on books but DO buy this pressure cooker. It will save you time (everything that cooks for 1 hour can be done in 15 minutes) and ton of money (you save on gas or electricity and on produce as you can buy tough cuts of meet for a fraction of a price of steak and have a lot more flavorful meal). Recommend 100 %. Very easy to use. P.S.: Someone mensioned cooling it down with cold water. I don't see why. And if you don't release the pressure all the way (turn the dial a little bit at the time and keep moving it towards steam picture only as steam subsides, you'll be fine, no mess at all). For that customer who hated the thing: The only reason something would stick to it is if there is not enough water or cooked too long. It must be hard to go from slow cooker to fast cooker. Takes adjustment. Doesnt' take long to judge though. |
