Designed to make healthful cooking easy, this steamer and rice cooker has two bowls that can be stacked so a complete meal of two foods or more can be cooked in two tiers simultaneously. One bowl holds 4 quarts, the other 3 quarts. Between them they can also cook a dozen eggs held upright by indentations in the bowls' bottoms. A rice bowl fits inside either of the bowls for steaming up to 2 cups of (uncooked) rice. The steamer's turbo generator provides instant steam, and open spouts make it convenient to add water during steaming. An external gauge monitors the water level. The two plastic bowls, the rice bowl, the lid (which fits under the bowls so they can be taken to the table), and the drip tray (which catches juices for making stock or gravy) are all dishwasher-safe. The 650-watt steamer stands 13 inches high. The oval bowls (shaped to hold fish and asparagus) are 9 inches wide (not including handles).
An 18-recipe cookbook, with color photographs, accompanies the cooker, offering simple instructions for dishes such as tomatoes stuffed with spinach, cod stew, and chestnut and whiskey pudding. A separate guide provides steaming times and tips for dozens of foods. --Fred Brack

T-Faulty timer on steamer,

I would have rated this steamer a top 5 stars 9 months ago.I LOVE t-fal ! I have been so impressed by the quality and longevity of their products, I replaced nearly all my kitchen appliances, pots and pans to t-fal items. Until now, I have never been unhappy with any of my purchases. Unfortunately, the timer suddenly ceased to work last month. Nothing was broken off, and the care of the product has been gentle and appropriate. We used the steamer about two times a week, rarely more. While the unit still steams well , the fact that I have lost this very essential function is a disappointment and renders the steamer handicapped, not to mention the food items that have been overcooked recently. I very much relied on that timer to calculate food preparation and done times. I will attempt to contact the company and see what their response will be, as certainly I expect T-Fal to do the right thing and either replace the timer/and or the unit itself. I will update the review when I reach a resolution. Until then: 3 stars, T-fal.

Worked great!! It worked better then I thought it would. Clean up was really easy. Just be sure to wear oven mitts as the steam is hot!!

I've had this steamer for 5 months now. It works great. It heats up super quick and cooks food evenly. Cleaning is easy. I either put all the pieces (except the base) in the dishwasher or I just rinse them with water. One thing to keep in mind is that when cooking with two tiers, the top tier cooks a bit slower than the lower tier. Also, in order to keep it new looking, use a soft cloth or a soft sponge when cleaning. The steamer is made out of plastic and it can be scratched if a rougher sponge is used. I gave it a 5-star and totally recommend it.
