... maybe "2 stars" -- because its inexpensive..., September 24, 2002

This grill is fine if you intend to eat raclette for fun once a year. But, if you eat raclette on a regular basis I'd recommend buying the heavier, more durable and reliable (and more expensive) model. As for performance, I found the T-Fal model heated too hot, too quickly and, since it doesn't have a temperature control, I had to control the heat buy plugging in and unplugging the unit throughout the meal -- not very conducive to a relaxing evening entertaining friends.

A taste of Switzerland!, September 6, 2004
This review is from: T-Fal 7822762 8-Tray Swiss-Style Raclette Grill (Kitchen)
I lived in Switzerland for about a year, and had many wonderful meals with the locals. One meal that they love showing off to their guests is the famous Raclette dinner.
There are many different versions of the Raclette dinner, and T-Fal has captured one of the more modern and convenient ways of preparing this delicious tradition right to your very own dinner table!
The grill is very well put together, although a temperature control knob may have helped out a little. This might be available in a pricier edition, but this grill still did the task, and that was satisfying my tastebuds!!!
The only other addition that would have improved upon this model is to include wooden spatulas to scrape out the cheese, flip the stuff on top of the grill. The cheese doesn't stick to the little pans, but it would have been helpful to guide my oozing, melted, cheese onto my potatos! Mmmm it was so good!
The top portion of the grill is great for grilling squash, veggies, and fajita sized meats.
Try the traditional recipe of the little Dutch yellow potatoes, sweet cocktail size pickles, cocktail onions, olives (black or green), the little pickled 'baby' corns, and one of your favorite cheeses. If you can find a 'Raclette' cheese, then great. You can also use Muenster, Colby, and even Cheddar!
Cleaning was a breeze. The non-stick cheese pans are easy to clean, and the grill top lifts off for easy cleaning with a soft scrub brush and warm soapy water.
Buy this, you'll love it!
P.S. Remember to drink warm fluids with Raclette, and serve in a cool room. Things can get kind of warm as you use the hot grill and fill your belly with warm, melted, delicious cheeses!

A good price, January 15, 2003
This review is from: T-Fal 7822762 8-Tray Swiss-Style Raclette Grill (Kitchen)
I found this while looking for raclette grills to replace my Stöckli 4-person grill, which has been outgrown despite having served us well. This appears to be an excellent buy. Most raclette grills do not have temperature controls since the process is to grill the cheese and then serve it over your cold meats (sopressata, bressaola, coppacola, anchovies) and potatoes (www.raclette-suisse.ch has more recipes for those new to this dish). Raclette has become a pizza substitute for us since my wife is gluten sensitive and there are lots of ways to enjoy raclette. One barrier to the enjoyment of this in the US has been the price, which this grill provides a very good inexpensive grill that is good for parties or large families.
