4.0 out of 5 stars one smart toaster
I love this toaster! This is my second T-Fal toaster and it's a big improvement over the last one. I really like the way it grabs toast and centers it. The shape is fun, creative and looks great in my kitchen (even the lettering matches my red and white decor). 1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed Again !
Found that the top of the heating elements have a mounting bar that prevents the top of the bread from receiving an equal amount of radiant heat - thus the top is bare and the bottom is brown. Or, the top is brown and the bottom is burned. Curved top allows to much heat to escape also preventing even browning...

4.0 out of 5 stars one smart toaster, October 20, 2000

I love this toaster! This is my second T-Fal toaster and it's a big improvement over the last one. I really like the way it grabs toast and centers it. The shape is fun, creative and looks great in my kitchen (even the lettering matches my red and white decor). While it is true that one side tends to brown more than the other, it is not a substantial difference. You have to be pretty picky about your toast in order to have an issue with this. The stop, reheat, and "frozen" buttons are ingenious. The reheat button is especially handly. The price is very reasonable. I don't like the regular plastic toasters and would lean more towards something with more style, like chrome, and end up paying more than double what this one cost. All in all, I thought it was a smart buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Package of A Toaster, June 27, 2000

I like this toaster not only because of its unique design but also its features. The features are very convenient and easy to use. I especially like the fact that it has a "warm up" feature and also a "frozen" feature. These features do become useful say if your doing a couple of things at once and the toast is ready but your not. No one likes cold toast. Simply press the "warm" button and push the lever down and guess what? Your toast is ready again! Or what about taking a frozen waffle out of the freezer? Simply put this in yout toaster and press the "freeze" button and push down the lever and presto! Ready for toasting! Convenience at an affordable price and a good looking toaster. A sort of retro look with the chrome, black and unique design. Heads up for the Avanti.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Toaster, March 18, 2001
By A Customer

After about 3 weeks, I have to say I'm very satisfied with this product. Could have spent much more money, but this does the job and looks good too. Love the extra lift lever for those english muffins. Mine toasts quite evenly and the settings definitely go from light to very toasted, unlike the 15 year old toaster I got rid of.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toaster, slots a little shallow, June 19, 2002

With one exception, this is a great toaster. Some of the better features are its easy portability (the back handle makes it easy to take out and put away, and the cord holder underneath keeps the cord from going everywhere).
I especially like the bagel feature, which turns off the outside heaters, allowing the inside of the bagel to get toaster.
The one problem is that the slots are a little shallow, and you can't toast a whole piece of rye bread without about an inch of the bread sticking out and not getting toasted.

Update: About 14 months after buying this, it died. No warranty, so out it went. Replaced it with a Krups (ASIN: B0001I9RA0)

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothin' says lovin' like something from the Toaster, September 23, 2003
I used to love almost everything about this toaster, but after the second one died after barely 3 months, I have to change my review. The edit feature of the review tool won't let me change the stars, so consider this a single star.

Beautiful styling, very suitable for almost any kitchen decor, but the reliability is cruddy. If you never make toast, this will look great in your kitchen.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS!, July 21, 2004
By

At first I was thrilled, thinking I had just purchased the Cadillac of all toasters. However, I was wrong. It only took a couple of weeks for this thing to blow a gasket. The buttons for the reheat and bagel options decided to light up one day and stay on, resulting in burnt toast on one side. For the money, this thing sucks. I find that you can't get a good toaster anywhere, however a $15 one is a better bet than this one. They claim it's much more than they sell it for, but don't know why. I've just resorted to the fact that I will buy a new cheap toaster every couple of years. Maybe I will reinvent the toaster and become a millionaire. It doesn't seem like a very complicated appliance. But nobody can make a good one.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a toaster. It will toast for you. Big time!!, September 10, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ahh, my fine T-fal. . . YES!!!
It will toast even the very largest of toastable items with
an even toasting fit for kings. Kings, my friends, kings.
And it looks quite cool, very "retro" which never
goes out of style because it never IS in style.
That is the secret of this fashion statement.
That is the secret.
And it's well built, with a light touch for such a
large machine. The ability to lift the toasted item upon
completion of said toasting, with the mechanical lifting lever, should not be underestimated. It is a formidable ally in the army of, ah, all toasting products.
I really like it, and for [$$] bucks I'm pleased.

I purchased this toaster as a Christmas present for my parents, based on its attractive design and features. Unfortunately, by Memorial Day it was unusable. When one pushes down the lever, it does not "catch," and thus never starts toasting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your toaster search has ended, March 10, 2003

At last! - a toaster that does what is supposed to do with great looks and a reasonable price. In the land of tinny $... toasters and over priced
$... models, this is by far your best bet. All of the features work perfectly - adapts easily to any size toast, bagel, or english muffin. ALWAYS produces the end result you ask for. A nifty feature is the reheat button...perfect for warming up without additional toasting for those mornings when the toast is done before the eggs.
