This review is from: T-Fal Avanti Elite Toaster 4T Model 2 (Kitchen)
This toaster has a nice bagel setting that toasts only the cut side of the bagel. The toasting is nice, though slow, if you don't mind waiting about three mnutes for your toast, you will be more than satisfied. The slot length is standard bread size and will not accommodate rye bread. The crumb tray is cheaply made, and out of the box, one of the crumb trays would not stay in, it was too much hassle to return the item on account of the crumb tray, though it is an annoyance..... P.S. the above review was written upon receipt of the toaster, after a few months of use I would give it a 1 star. The toaster is now permanently etched and marred where the lever does not clear the face of the toaster. It is SLOW. ... you could do much better than this poorly made toaster...PPS, this postscript is added after the toaster ejected my toast and sent it flying across the counter onto the floor. True story. I am going to junk it and buy another toaster.

BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!, September 20, 2004
This review is from: T-Fal Avanti Elite Toaster 4T Model 2 (Kitchen)
I am so disappointed with our toaster, after waiting months to finally purchase this toaster, I have been so exctied, and now today it arrived. I have tried bagels, waffles and bread in it today and it's no different than my silly bargain toaster I just threw away.
There are 9 toast settings, from very lightly toasted to very, very dark toasting (according the the directions), but to get any darkening at all, in a single toast, I have to set the toaster to level 7 out of 9. The Waffle setting is a joke (and it as well as the bagel setting only work on one set of slots), and the memory is just as silly - who can't remember what number they like their toast at - and even if that is a problem there are four memory settings, so you'd have to be able to remember which memory setting is the one you want!
Once I finally did figure out how to get the bread to actually toast, it was uneven, on both sides.
My other problem is the bagel setting, which I suppose could be used for Englsih Muffins, but it is called a bagel setting - anyhow, it only toasts the cut side, and warms the other side, and what do you get - a chewy bagel - once it cools down. Sure it is great in the couple minutes it's piping hot, but once it begins to cool down the outside of the bagel just gets chewy!
The most frustrating thing - is the directions are not clear. They don't specify what the Bagel and Waffle setting even do!
My husband mocked me for spending so much money on this toaster, and I insisted - it's worth every penny to have quality kitchen appliances - and now, I've eaten my words, my pride has taken a beating and I'm on my way out the door to return this waste of money!

I'm Very Upset!, March 24, 2006
This review is from: T-Fal Avanti Elite Toaster 4T Model 2 (Kitchen)
I got this toaster today and after reading the reviews, I didn't think it could happen to me.
I opened the package and it's all rusted and corroded! Don't they have people who check before the merchandise is shipped out.
You can tell, the rust had been there for a long time, even the plastic bag that it was wrapped in had rust stains on it.
The package was dry so there was no leakage after sending it out so it had to have been rusted before it was even mailed. Do they think customers are idiots? Who in their right mind would even contemplate keeping an item in this kind of condition.
So back it goes. I did not want a replacement, just my money returned.
