When I read the comments about reliability I was concerned and nearly took a pass on buying this grill. I am very glad I went ahead and bought it. My experience has been great! At 60 years of age I have cooked one or two meals in my life so that ought to put to rest any questions about my experience cooking. I DO MISS HAVING A TIMER! Perhaps if you never had one, then missing one is not an issue, however I did have one on another product. I multi-task when cooking. My previous cooker would ding when the time finished. Without a timer I have overcooked fish and shrimp. It cooks really fast and I start out with frozen food. Once in my excitement that the food was ready so quickly, I took the food off the grill and forgot to pull the cord. The good news is that after a while my wife wondered what the smell was. It took a little before we found the grill was still on. A timer would have saved me from my forgetfulness. The previous brand I used had removeable plates that popped out of the the base and lid. With that one the white paint became discolored from the heat. Also the paint scratched off very easily. I even took one back to the store after one day use because of the paint problem. With T-Fal none of this has been a problem. The black grill looks great on the counter. Its cleans-up is a breeze. It is very easy to remove and re-plug in the power cords for cleaning. Follow the directions and spray the plates before cooking (canola oil based sprays stand the heat)...I had to learn the hard way. While not the greatest fan of non-stick surfaces due to "Teflon flu" issues, this surface has held up very well with just the slightest nick in one place on the base after all my rough use and one edge scratch from my washing techniques. I love the little nodules on the base as they stop my frozen fish from sliding off when I lower the lid. I only cook "lid down" style yet I am more than satisfied with this wonderful cooker. I love it and use it all the time.

This grill performed flawlessly for about 6 months. I used it about once every two weeks to cook a large batch of chicken breasts.

I was very pleased with it and even wrote a 5-star review for Amazon.

Then, one day out of the blue and right in the middle of a grilling session, it just stopped working. I shipped it to my local service center for warranty repair, but they told me it was not repairable and T-Fal would be sending me a replacement in 3 to 6 weeks. Not that terrible, but not exactly very impressive service either.

And one wonders how on Earth anybody manages to manufacture an electric grill that can't even work 6 months without breaking down; we're not talking cutting-edge electronics here!

This grill deserves a 5 star rating... when it works. Unfortunately my recent experience (which seems to be corroborated by at least a few other reviewers) indicates this is not a reliable product, and warranty service has room for improvement. Stay away from it.

This grill is so awesome I just had to write my first review. This replaced my giant George Forman grill with the flaking non-stick surface and non-removable plates.

This thing is a dream.

1) It heats up really fast (although the first couple times I did have some stinky smoke), and it cooks faster than my George Foreman.

2) It has an adjustable temperature which is really handy (I cook most things on 3 because 4 is pretty hot).

3) It comes with a wire insert that holds the top of the grill up so you can melt cheese on your burger without the cheese touching the grill (no more trying to prop open the top with spoons and other utensils).

4) The top of the grill has a couple different positions so my steaks don't get all the good juice squeezed out, but my chicken breasts get cooked evenly all the way through.

5) The drip pan actually stays in place! Amazing concept. ;-)

6) Clean up is the best part of using this grill!! The plates come off and everything -- housing and plates -- can go in the diswasher. The only thing that can't go in water is the plug. I generally don't have room in my dishwasher, so I wash everything in hot soapy water in the sink. Super easy.

I only have one complaint and that is the size of the grill. I wish they made a bigger size. Other than that, I have no complaints. I LOVE THIS GRILL!!

After my disappointment with Cuisinart's Griddler, I really did my research and found this. It has Good Housekeeping recommendations and the 2 good reviews earlier. It has a lot of the features I am looking for (just like the Cuisinart but without the griddle and more ). My Amazon order arrived today, and it is a very well designed little griller. You can tell T-Fal put in a lot of thoughts designing it and covering all areas. It heats up fast, the grease does not splash and drains well. Though it operates with a different concept and is not as sleek as the Cusinart one, it performs very well and is very sturdy.. Cleaning is a breeze, I just take it apart and wash it in the Sink (You can also put the top and bottom in the dishwasher. I don't need to do this) When you put them back, just remember to plug the heating elements back in first and the top lid will lock. I can store the griller standing up too. A very versatile griller and is a keeper and I am happy now.

I recently bought this grill to replace another brands model. This one is much easier to clean and does a fantastic job cooking all sorts of foods. The Different cooking modes make it easy to prepare different types of foods with just a quick switch of the machine. I highly recommend this for anybody who is looking for a better easier low fat cooking grill.

We shopped around on the internet and decided to go with the T-Fal Fit 'N Clean for these reasons: it has an upper and lower heating element, variable temp control, and you can put the whole unit in the dishwasher. We've found it to be everything we wanted in an indoor grill. Clean-up couldn't be easier. We love it!

I purchased this grill as a replacement for an older model George Foreman. I love the fact that the plates are removeable because I dont like doing dishes. This grill is extremely easy to clean, either by just rinsing it off in the sink, or putting it in the dishwasher. I also like the indoor grill feature. It allowed me to cook 2 large tuna steaks on one side and asparagus and broccoli on the other. You can get about 3-4 boneless chicken breasts on at a time as well. I dont understand the different temperature settings, but it all tastes the same to me and I havent burned anything yet. Some people want a timer, but I say that's nonsense because while you are cooking whatever food you are having, by the time you wash your hands, set the table, and get a drink, your food is done. If you cant remember to take your food off that quickly, then maybe you shouldnt be cooking.

This grill is an all-around winner. It is a great value for its size and abilities.

I researched a number of indoor grills before settling upon the T-Fal. I could not be happier with the product. The grill is easy to use, produces wonderful meat, fish and vegetables, and is a breeze to clean. The flexible hinge is a great feature for open face grilling or for resting the top grill above the food with out touching it (great for more delicate foods like fish). I highly recommend this product.

I bought this to replace my Foreman grill because the non-stick surface on it was coming off.

I've had this 6 months now, and it still looks like new. I love the fact the plates are removable for cleaning. Even so, I put a wet paper towel between the plates while they are still warm, because it makes it even easier to clean. So far the non-stick surface is holding up well, but I don't put them in the dishwasher.

I've read reviews of other brands where they complain that the removable plates don't get hot enough. This is not a problem with this brand.

If you have birds, be real careful of using any non-stick cookware in their vicinity. The fumes can kill them.

I much prefer cooking this way because food cooks twice as fast and is juicier than if you pan cooked it. I've always had good luck with the T-Fal brand.

I had a little George Foreman from the first generation of George machines. After I got married, it was time for an upgrade! I found this model on Amazon and decided to go for it since the reviews were good. I love it!

Steaks and burgers cook super fast and are so juicy, then it can open fully for a real 'grill' feel, like cooking kabobs. The best part is you just detach the heating element and throw them in the dishwasher! Easy clean-up! I love it!
