Since there aren't any reviews about this product, I decided to write one.

I just got it about 5 days ago, and used it once (last night). First, I must say that I really don't eat that much fried foods. BUT, when I do, the smoke just covers my whole little apartment. So, I saw this on sale and decided to order it.

Last night, I fried some chicken drumsticks just to test it out to see if I wanted to return it or not). Well, it did pretty good!! The drumsticks where great! They were fried evenly and was still juicy (not dried out). When I lowered the food into the oil (which you can do with the lid closed - another plus), there was some smoke out of the little vent at the top but it didn't engulf my entire apartment! YAY!! All I could do was smell the chicken a little!

Then there was the clean-up - A BREEZE!!! I just put the fryer on top of they little plastic oil container that came with it and wala, it filtered the oil. It took a while, but thats okay, I just put it on there and came back in about 20 minutes and it was done! I then rinsed out the basket, lid and the fryer itself and put them all in the dishwasher! How easy is that?!!

- It comes with the fryer body (dishwashable)
- The lid (removeable and dishwashable)
- The basket (dishwashable)
- The handle for the basket (removeable and dishwashable)
- The oil container (where the filtered oil goes) and lid (dishwashable)
- The electric base (NOT dishwashable, but it doesn't touch the oil or the food)
- The cord (NOT dishwashable, magnetic. I guess this is incase a kid trips it or something. My daugther is 8 months old, so I this should be useful in the near future. Personally, I don't mind it, I just keep it with the base!)

As a collector of gadgets, I can say that this is one of my favorites. I bought this even though I thought it was expensive as a splurge since I had an Amazon gift certificate. This is wonderful! I have tried it with doughnuts, french fries, fried chicken, and pierogies. It worked wonderfully. Everything came out golden and delicious. I have had such bad luck with deep frying in the past - either with my skillet or a multi-purpose cooker. I had a lot of trouble keeping the fat at the right temperature, but this appliance does it automatically.

The maintance aspects are what is the best about this deep fryer. Mine takes about an hour to filter from the maximum oil level into the container. I just leave it and come back to it later and plunk the top and fryer into the dishwasher. It comes out of the dishwasher good as new! My favorite part is that it is so easy to use that I use my premade doughnut dough (thanks to the breadmaker) and can have fresh doughnuts in about 15 minutes without having to smell the oil all day and spend an hour cleaning up. The only con I can think of is that the oil pan doesn't have a pour spout on it - but I still have had no problem pouring the oil back into the fryer. It is so easy to use that I have been deep frying far far to often. It would be nice if it had a window, but those never work on appliances anyway because steam always clouds it up - so it would just be a waste of time.

Why I LOVE LOVE LOVE this deep fryer:
1)You can lower the food into the oil with the lid closed, so the oil doesn't splatter everywhere
2)If you want to check if the food is cooked enough, you can raise the food out of the oil, and they lift the lid and examine the food, again, without oil splattering everywhere
3) Everything but the electrical base/cord goes into the dishwasher!
4) When done, you take the fryer off the electrical base and place it on the oil box, and it filters out the oil, and you can reuse the oil 10 times. The oil box is like a big tupperware, easy to store.
5) Food comes out very crispy!
6) Did I mention that I like that oil doesn't splatter everywhere? Such a clean alternative to frying on the stove top.

To address other reviews:
1) My fryer sits stable on the electrical base and does not leak oil
2) My lid opens and closes easily

This deep fryer is very easy to clean, everything goes in the dishwasher except the base. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the basket does not hold much food. Otherwise I am very impressed!

I started using a small deep fryer in college just to make fries. I went through many different deep fryers since then as my family grew. I just couldn't find the right one. Now I have a family of 4 and this is the perfect deep fryer. I love the fact that it's big enough to fry all pieces for my family in one use. I can just throw in chicken nuggets and fries some days for the children and I can make taquitos (my husband's favorite) some days for him. I have fried chicken breast and they turned out perfect. It fries so evenly. The basket can sit at the top of the fryer to drain without having to hold it. The temperatures are perfect. When you lift the lid the water from the steam doesn't go directly into the oil to cause splattering like my past deep fryer. But most of all I love the cleaning features on this unit. You can drain/filter the oil and put everything except the hot plate (bottom) in the dishwasher. The last one I had was such a pain cleaning that I threw it away.

Everything is perfect about this including the price. Too good to be true considering the fact that I've paid more for deep fryers prior to this. I think I'll get one for my mom.

This fryer works great and is so easy to clean. It may help to know that the actual fryer basket insert has about a 7 inch diameter and is about 2.5 inches deep, so you can better visualize about how much food it will hold. It was hard for me to imagine what 1.5 lbs of food looks like. The food capacity is just fine for two people, plus I don't mind doing extra batches if I had guests. I love the oil filter feature and storage container. It took only a few minutes to filter. The fact that all but the electric base and cord can go in the dishwasher is a big plus, especially compared to my previous stainless steel fryer which always had smears on it. Also, I like the handle on the side. It's easy to pull the unit out from my bottom cabinet where I store it. The anti odor filter works great too and I like that it's replaceable.

Purchased after reading the reviews and am completely satisfied after a month of use. Excellent, well thought of design that enables the user to stay clear of the hot oil and avoid splatter via a clever door with vent. It heats up fast and operates on as little as four cups of oil.
Clearly a fabulous buy and hands down the best on the market. Happy frying.

I bought the T-Fal Fryer a few weeks ago, and have used it several times. It is easy to use, cooks small batches well, and the oil filtering feature is great. My old unit, a Fry-Daddy, required me to get myself and the kitchen in a mess when straining the oil; the T-Fal oil box system allows me to get this done with no mess at all. Drawbacks: The unit is designed for small batches (which works for me as a single man), so don't expect to make dinner for four in it. Also, it would have been nice to find a recipe book with it - but otherwise I am very pleased with the product.

Had to send the 1st one back-it did not work. Reason for 4stars.
Got the 2nd one-and love it!!! Easy to use-and easy to clean-
basket could be a little bigger, but no complaining here. The easy clean up makes up for the size of the basket.

It is just great. I can't find any problem with this product. It is big enough to handle four chicken legs at a time and very easy to drain used oil. I strongly recommend buying this fryer.
