At first the guest appearances from BG Knocc Out & Afta Maff use to bother me but after i started listening to the rhymes they spit its pretty good. The best songs are....#1.T.H.U.G.S., #2.Nuthin But Da Bone In Me, #3.The Silence Isnt Over, #4.Coming 2 Serve You, #5.Live Soil, & finally #6.Sticks & Stones (NOT IN THAT ORDER). Krayzie Bone is my favorite member of Bone Thugs but for some reason i listen to Flesh more. I think Flesh is like 2pac....except instead of being dead (R.I.P.) hes locked up. He makes hardcore songs & other songs that are kinda religious or deep without anyone labeling him to be soft or anything. The point is, this CD is da bomb very unappreciated. FREE FLESH!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for Bone fans!, December 6, 1999
This review is from: T.H.U.G.S. (Audio CD)
It's been three years since this came out, but if you don't have it, get it! Flesh is amazing with his flows, though it can sometimes be hard to understand what he's saying. There's plenty of smooth tracks (World so Cruel, Northcoast, Sticks and Stones, and Playa Haters are some of the best), and there are hardcore thug tracks (Mystic Spirits, Coming 2 Serve You, and No Mercy). The guests (Run, Fat Joe, Big Pun, Layzie & Krayzie Bone) all make worthwhile appearances, but it is Flesh and his unique flow that makes this album. This is one of the top ten under-appreciated hip-hop albums of the 1990's. BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars The first solo album from a bone member is a bone classic, October 18, 2002
This review is from: T.H.U.G.S. (Audio CD)
Flesh released his solo album before any of his other group members even thought about making a solo album which proves that flesh had a lot to say. First I must say that flesh is the strongest lyricist in bone because every verse is full of passion and truth. I enjoyed all the songs on this album and the beats were above average and I am disapointed that many bone fans didn't like this album because it's a great piece of the bone legacy. I would suggest every rap fan and bone fan to pick up this album because it's an excellent solo debut from the strongest member of bone. I would also suggest to the fans who didn't like the album to listen to it again carefully and hear what the man is saying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Free Flesh N' Bone!!!!, May 23, 2006
This review is from: T.H.U.G.S. (Audio CD)
Flesh N' Bone was like the sweetest off Bone Thugs next to Bizzy because he had that skill to just have you like oooohhhhh that's hard. He did a great job on his first CD this is like a classic for me. There's alot of a good songs on here like "Sticks and Stones", "Empty The Clip", and "World So Cruel". Great album off da bones archives. A lot of people startin' to think Bone Thugs gettin' too old now but I tell them to hate on the Thuggish Ruggish. This is a must have album. Free Flesh N' Bone and free my cousin Quincy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Flesh-N-Bone Drops a Str8 Tight Solo!, November 11, 2005
This review is from: T.H.U.G.S. (Audio CD)
Flesh-N-Bone of BTNH came from the streets of Cleaveland, Ohio like the other Bone Thugs of E's Ruthless Records, and drops a tight under r8ed solo T.H.U.G.S. which is pretty much horror-core gangsta rap. The hardest song has to be Crazy By The Flesh which has a drive-by 211 beat. Coming To Serve You featuring B.G. Knocc Out has to be 1 of my personal favorites because its just a damn dope smokin' ruthless hit. Empty The Clip featuring Afta Maff is another hard gat slangin' song and the ruthless hit No Mecy featuring Fat Joe aka Crack & Big Pun (R.I.P.) is a good combination.

T.H.U.G.S. best are 2, 3(feat. Rev. Run), 4(feat. Rev. Run), 5(feat. Layzie Bone), 6, 7, *8, 10, *11(feat. B.G. Knocc Out), 13(feat. Afta Maff), 14, *15(feat. Afta Maff), *16(feat. Fat Joe & Big Pun)& 17(feat. Layzie Bone & Krayzie Bone).

5.0 out of 5 stars unappreciated and under-rated, February 10, 2000
This review is from: T.H.U.G.S. (Audio CD)
It might of been the first solo album by Bone, but it wasn't the best. Flesh is so awesome how he can go from hard raps to soft sung raps, while making his raps flow very fast. It does have some pretty sweet hard songs like "Mystic Spirits", "The Silence isn't Over" and "Crazy by the Flesh". The album opens with a gospel sound which is good to hear, but it didn't set the tone for the rest of the album. Make sure u listen to track #3 were Run from Run DMC gives a good preach.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Art of Bone: The 5th Dawg- Underrated but Incredible!, January 26, 2005
This review is from: T.H.U.G.S. (Audio CD)
FLESH-N-BONE BRINGS THE FURY AND THE MIGHT WIT HIS FIRST SOLO! He's the 5th member of Bone thugs-n-harmony and one of the tightest. He never kicked his gangsta shix as much as the other thugz on albums before this (Creepin on ah come up, East 1999, mo thug family scriptures) but on his T.H.U.G.S he shows he has a whole LOAD ta say and gets it off his chest. Flesh is another one of my favorite rapper who brings that LYRICAL EXCELLENCE like two I can think off the top my head- Lord Infamous & T-rock (recommended). For some reason many doubt the lyrical ability and str8 up RAP TALENT of flesh. I'm here ta let da HATERS know tha deal.

1. Prayer Intro: Not much ta give a rating two. Just kicks into...

2. T.H.U.G.S.: It's not the best on the album, but very tight. Flesh is on point with his lyrics, and chorus is catchy. 8 out of 10

3. Reverend Run Sermon: this is almost a skit mix wit an interlude and with some very GREAT background vocals. Run (from Run-DMC) sayz some very meaningful words ya can feel. 9 out of 10

4. World So Cruel: previous track precedes this HELLA tight one.(best track to me) With Run spittin by his side, and the other Mo thug's great chorus vocals, they put a soulfully felt song together in a way only a bone thug can. 10 out of 10

5. Northcoast: VERY TIGHT! The smooth jazz beats are BANGIN along wit the lyrics from flesh are so tight AND his lil bro layzie swoops through and rips it up so it's all good 10 out of 10.

6. Nothin but da Bone in me: Believe it, there IS nothin but da bone in'em, as puts on down on another solo track wit the vicious twist AND a TIGHT AZZ BEAT! 9 out of 10

7. The silence isn't over: The first of da dark tracks. BUMPIN! Tight beat as he maintains himself perfectly over THREE verses 9 out of 10

8. Crazy by the flesh: darker than the last track and one of my favorites, flesh RIPS IT UP SO SINISTA! Dark beat. A hot track 10 out of 10

9. 51/50 skit: A dark 8 second skit that's kinda funny because it has me rollin when I hear it. It leads up too...

10. Mystic spirits: another HELLA TIGHT cut wit that evil feel to it. He maintains his lyrical excellence once again 10 out of 10

11. Coming 2 serve you: Another RIPPIN TRACK! This time Flesh hook up the Compton nigga wit the fast flow B.G Knocc Out (One of Eazy-E main allies in the ol' ruthless dayz) Knocc out alwayz was tight and doesn't fall short here. they make good team wit the wicked tongue twist, and this is also where that sleepwalkers beat off the bone collection II came from(or could be other way around, depends on when recorded) at a fastest pace. Hot track. 10 out of 10

12. The Killin skit: Its flesh & Afta Maff disposing of ah hater (sounds like he's in a body bag) this leads into...

13. Live Soil: VERY TIGHT! The group Afta Maff spits some of the most wicked I ever heard! I know the first dude name is Kamikaze, my favorite member who spits the most wicked to me. I think the second is Big Boss who's tight, and last who I'm not sure but he's tight too. Flesh makes this worth WILD as kicked it extra fast for da end HOPE YA CAN CATCH `EM! Funny newscast over tha Murder-N-Mayhem at end 10 out of 10

14. Sticks and Stones: As usual on his solo tracks, flesh delivers da devastation. Smooth,
unique beat hits hard and he lets tha haters know they just can't touch'em 8 out of 10

15. Empty The Clip: another one wit afta Maff. They bring even HARDER ON HERE then on live soil. Flesh RIPS IT, everyone else RIPS IT, tight track ya gotta peep diz one. 10 out of 10

16. No Mercy: I used ta not like this track for some reason, but afta listening ta tha lyrics
flesh kicked I began ta LUV IT! It was fat Joe which knock me off balance but his lyrics are tight too afta givin it a listen. the punisher (big pun) did well too. 8 out of 10

17. Playa hater: A great way ta end about what bone still deals with today: playa haters. This track features fellow bone thugz Krayzie n Layzie. They tear it up, and flesh still delivers TWO good-length verses. A tight track, most definitely for those who can relate. 10 out of 10

There you have it. With ah tongue twist style that pretty much automatic, Flesh shows he's just as much apart Bone as Krayzie, Layzie Wish, and Bizzy, Not just some extra voice in tha background I've heard some one say. Those who said flesh couldn't hold a solo track obviously don't know SQUAT cause all his solo tracks contain 3 full-lengh verses ALL HITTIN! Like many rappers in there younger dayz, flesh voice was different before this. It was just deeper, which as far I know can only be found on Bone's first two group albums, then it's this style which is tight and enhances the tongue twist, but I personally like his first style. Once again there is a HATER! I getting tired of people rating classic albums they have no interest in. THE BEST RAP CRITIC INDEED! THE WORST! How anyway can rate east 1999 BELOW 5 stars is beyond me, but this dude (former reviewer ) doesn't have REAL FEEL for rap CHECK HIS REVIEW if ya don't believe me He went around basically hatin on rap albums in one day( Jan 16) he's no real rap listener, especially if can't bone's BEST MATERIAL. Take it from me, a person with a more in-depth look at gangsta rap. Also, be one of Trues Humbly United Gathering Souls and pick this up true flesh-n-bone fans, and his "5th dog let loose." He underrated but incredible fo sho. FREE FLESH!

I was very suprised that Flesh-N-Bone ventured out to a solo album, seeing that he didn't have many verses on the Bone Thugs albums. Linking up with Def Jam (I'm suprised of that too since most of the solo albums were on Ruthless/Sony), releasing T.H.U.G.S. which of course showcased his flow. One strong characteristic that Flesh had was his ability to flow. Here on this album, it was quite obvious that his flow was strong, especially it being as fast paced on many songs. Where the album started to slip was the production. Granted that their in-house producer DJ Uneek didn't produce anything on this album, a lot of the beats on this album are not as fitting as you would expect to hear from Flesh, or any Bone Thugs album, especially on the second half of the album. In fact what saves the last half of the album from being a complete washout is the big name guest appearances.

The first song that really stood out to me was "World So Cruel" featuring Rev. Run of Run-DMC, after giving his sermon on the previous track. To my suprise, Joseph Simmons actually spits a pretty fast flow in his verse and here Flesh really makes a positive song looking at things around him. "North Coast" featuring Layzie Bone and Tiarra Damon sounds pretty decent over a jazz beat. Songs like "Crazy By The Flesh" gives you the vibe that many fans are used to hearing anyone from Bone Thugs.

Afterwards the album starts to fall beginning with "Mystic Spirits" over some uninteresting production. Songs like "Comin 2 Serve Ya" with BG Knocc Out, No Mercy with Fat Joe and Big Pun, and Playa Hater with Layzie Bone and Krayzie Bone pretty much are the only standouts on the album. Truthfully around that time, you would have grown tired of Flesh's high tone, and fast flow and are glad that some people come in to change things up. Even so, songs like "Empty The Clip" and "Live Soil" are terrible, and part of it is because both feature Afta Maff who sounds horrible when paired next to Flesh.

So overall T.H.U.G.S. is pretty solid. Here you have at some points of Flesh in a spiritual sense, and at the same time maintaining the character of what he is known for. His flow matches the production pretty smoothly, even though some of the production is not as good. There are a few standouts on here, but there are also alot of tracks that really don't keep your attention. If you are looking for a better Bone Thugs related project, I highly recommend checking out Mo Thugs Family Scriptures which was released that same year. While Flesh's solo debut is not bad, it's difficult to take in at times. Peace.
