5.0 out of 5 stars Takanori Makes Revolution
I am relatively new to Jpop and Jrock music, so when I decided I had to have this DVD, I didn't really know what to expect. Summer Crush is 2 disks long. 3.0 out of 5 stars Could've Been Better
I was really glad to be able to get this, but I would've enjoyed it more if the concert footage had focused more on him than the audience. The backstage footage was fun,but all the short clips of him singing made me want to see more and since I didn't get that I was left somewhat dissatisfied with the whole thing.I'm still glad I got it,although I wish I'd known more about...

5.0 out of 5 stars Takanori Makes Revolution, December 26, 2005
This review is from: T.M. Revolution: Summer Crush 2002 (DVD)
I am relatively new to Jpop and Jrock music, so when I decided I had to have this DVD, I didn't really know what to expect. Summer Crush is 2 disks long. The first disk contains the concert, which is roughly an hour and a half in length. The second disk does have some songs he sang from concerts, but it is mostly backstage footage where we get to see his personality. The DVD comes with a booklet containing the lyrics to 16 songs.

If there is anything that disappointed me about the conert is that they showed the audience a little too much. And there were times I felt that showing the stage from a far away shot was somewhat annoying because I wanted to see Takanori-san. But this only bothered me in the beginning because I quickly got swept away with the performance.

Takanori Nishikawa really puts all his energy into his concerts. His songs are filled with emotion. You can't help but enjoy it. His singing is just so vibrant and refreshing. Despite not understanding the lyrics to the songs or what he's saying when he speaks to the audience, I never lost interest even for a moment.

Something I noticed was that he wasn't just standing there in one spot. Takanori was everywhere. He never hesitated to run up to the crowd or across the stage. He never stopped dancing and even included the audience from time to time. There is such beauty and power in his voice. There were even fans who would burst into tears in the middle of a song. This DVD is the second best thing to actually being at the concert.

The backstage footage is enjoyable as well. (Although unfortunately, none of it has subtitles so you don't know what they are saying, but their emotions and actions are more than enough to satisfy viewers.) It gave me a chance to see what Taka-san was like. He is a fun-loving individual whom we often see playing frisbee or soccer with the band members, shooting and getting shot at by water guns, or traveling across Japan. We also see him eating, working out, and sleeping. I think the most valuable clip out of all the backstage footage was the one that showed how completely exhausted he was after performing at his concerts. He is helped backstage where he immediately goes to sleep. Just seeing him shut down shows us how much energy and effort he puts out when he sings. After seeing that clip I appreciated him so much more.

Overall, you can't go wrong with this DVD. I love it to death and I'm sure T.M. Revolution fans (or anyone who is a fan of Jpop/Jrock) will love it as well!

Some of the best musical entertainment you could ever watch! Takanori Nishikawa gives an exciting, upbeat performance. The first DVD is filled with great concert clips, while the second DVD contains backstage footage. The DVDs come with romanji lyrics of the songs performed on the DVDs. Great buy for any music lover! ^_^

5.0 out of 5 stars Charisma at its best..., October 5, 2003

Words cannot describe this DVD. The first disc, which consists of 90% concert footage is a spectacular masterpiece of camera work. And the performance itself is unbelievable. Takanori Nishikawa is a born performer, and his music makes you want to jump up and sing and dance.

The 2nd disc, which is 90% backstage and documentary footage shows what a carefree and absolutely charming person he is personally. I love this DVD, and I hope people enjoy it as much as I do.
