1.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful with Online Card Purchase, February 13, 2011

Tucson Trooper "Charge It" (Tucson, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: T-Mobile $25 Prepaid Service Coupon (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I purchased a T-Mobile refill card with a new pre-paid phone. The refill card was useless as the system said that the pin number for it was invalid. Calls to the service center bounced me back and forth between the US service centers and some service center overseas that handles T-Mobile's prepaid service. Waste of time as no one could fix the problem about why the card wasn't working. All of this ate the 10 minutes of airtime that came with the new phone, had to go look for a regular phone to keep talking with the help center (another 20 minute round of "tag your it" getting bounced from one center to the other).

After 6 hours of trying to get this fixed, I gave up and I'm sending the phone and refill card back to T-Mobile.

Just as a suggestion, if you plan on buying a T-Mobile prepaid, don't buy the refill card with the phone. Wait till you get the phone and go through the activation first (takes 24 to 48 hours) and then create an online account and refill the phone using a credit card (you will get better customer service that way because their sales people can target you for a full pay account now that they have all of your personal info). If you must buy a refill card, walk, don't run, to a T-Mobile store and get your card that way, you have someone real to yell at if the card doesn't work.

If you have to order one on line, and it doesn't work, make sure you have a lot of patience and don't use your cell phone (your minutes will be eaten up talking with the help desk if you have to call the 800/877 number). If your cell phone is out of airtime, the 611 or *234 or such refill and help numbers may not work because the system seems to lock the service out till you get more minutes (again, if you have a web account with a credit card, this is a non-issue). Any minutes you use up will not be reimbursed. Be prepared to be bounced back and forth between different departments (the prepaid service department is outside the US). Also, be prepared to deal with the sales department, as you will be bounced back and forth between this and the prepaid departments several times before someone decides to just send you another card or credit your account (highly unlikely as this was not offered to me, but some of my friends say that they got this).

Any way, I'm really disgusted, I hope T-Mobile gets their act together, in the mean time, I'm getting another Virgin Mobile phone till Verizon decides to drop their prices.
