Amazon.com Product Description

Finally, a flip phone with the power and features of a smartphone has arrived. One of the first flip-phones to sport BlackBerry technology, the Samsung t719 is a full-featured, quad-band phone with a 1.3 megapixel VGA camera, advanced voice dialing and speech recognition, and much more. With MMS messaging capabilities, a built in e-mail client powered by BlackBerry Connect, Bluetooth, EDGE data, a flashlight, and wireless Web capabilities, the t719 is a powerful and svelte complement to T-Mobile service.

BlackBerry Connect on a compact clamshell; what a great idea. See the t719 in detail.
Design
Inside the t719's sleek clamshell design you'll find a large, yet crisp and clear 176 x 220 color LCD display with support for over 262,000 colors. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary monochrome LCD display that can display time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button located above the phone's number pad. The phone includes 25 MB of internal memory. And because the t719 has an internal antenna, there's nothing to snag or break off.

Calling Features
The t719's phone book can handle up to 1,000 of your contacts, and you can store up to five numbers per entry, plus an e-mail address, and a note. In addition to having a discreet vibrating alert, the t719 supports both 40-chord polyphonic ringtones, which means you can really jazz up your incoming calls with cool tunes. Custom ringtones in MP3 format are also supported. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone, and more ringtones can be downloaded from T-Mobile's t-zones service. You can also assign ringer IDs and picture IDs to your favorite callers, while the speaker-independent voice dialing feature allows for quick, voice activated calling of pre-programmed contacts. Like all T-Mobile phones, the t719 supports voice mail, caller ID, conference calling, call forwarding, call waiting, call hold, built-in paging, and access to T-Mobile's 411 service.

Additionally, the t719 is Bluetooth-enabled, allowing you to use a variety of headsets and hands-free kits for total wireless freedom when you're on the go.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
When it comes to messaging and Internet connectivity, the t719 has you covered. The t719 lets you stay connected when you're on the go with excellent voice quality and real-time BlackBerry e-mail via T-Mobile's built in email client, BlackBerry Connect (optional BlackBerry service charges apply). There's also a built-in WAP 2.0 Web browser for t-zones downloads and mobile Web browsing. T-Mobile's t-zones service lets you receive and send e-mails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. The phone also supports traditional text messaging, as well as picture and sound messaging. The t719 sports a convenient QWERTY text keyboard, and SureType text entry, which is a predictive text entry technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

The t719 delivers the legendary BlackBerry email experience. With BlackBerry service plans from T-Mobile, you can receive emails instantaneously from up to 10 email accounts (personal and enterprise). With BlackBerry push technology, you don't need to retrieve your email. Instead, BlackBerry devices are designed to remain on and continuously connected to the wireless network, allowing you to be discreetly notified as new email arrives.

If your company has a BlackBerry Enterprise Server installed, you can take advantage of the power of wireless calendar synchronization. Your calendar events are exchanged wirelessly and automatically so that your desktop calendar and BlackBerry handheld calendar are synchronized. All your meeting requests, changes, and updates are instantaneously synchronized instantaneously with your desktop. Make meeting requests, invite new attendees and more, all on your t719. Users without BlackBerry Enterprise Server support can manually sync with their desktop calendars and contacts via Bluetooth or USB using BlackBerry Desktop Software.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the t719, including a voice memo recorder that allows up to a minute of recording time per memo, a calculator with unit converter, a calendar, and an alarm clock. Support for SyncML-based PC synchronization of your contacts, calendars, and other data is also included.

Imaging and Entertainment
The t719 is easy to customize to suit your style. Screen savers, themes, and wallpapers can be set to your tastes, and you can even browse and download more wallpapers from the t-zones service. The t719 is Java-enabled, meaning it supports games and application downloads written on the Java platform. Games are available via the T-Mobile t-zones service.

As mentioned, the phone sports a powerful 1.3 megapixel camera. The camera also features support for video capture. Store as many videos as you like, as long as there is available memory.

Vital Statistics
The Samsung t719 weighs 3.50 ounces and measures 3.70 x 2.00 x 0.72 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3 hours of digital talk time, and up to 5 days of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Product Description

The new Samsung T719 provides an ideal way for busy people to stay in touch - real-time email powered by blackberry. It automatically delivers mail to your phone. No need to prompt it to check for mail. The T719 also features a 250 entry calendar, a 1000 contact phonebook, and an address book that syncs with your desktop PC.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great phone with few concerns..., October 21, 2006
This review is from: T-Mobile Samsung SGHT719 GSM Flip Mobile phone for TMobile Cell-phone Service (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This phone reminds me of Samsung's 715 phone which was absolutely superior. There are a few upgrades from that phone though.

The voice recognition feature is cool. You can say a certain command and the phone will take you to that screen or call a certain person for you. Haven't used it much, but nice to have if I want to.

You can access corporate email or other email with its Blackberry feature. I bought the phone for that feature and then ended up not using it. Again, very handy to have.

This phone can receive the myfaves promotion that T-Mobile is offering, but you don't get the five icons downloaded on your phone because this phone doesn't support that. Really not an issue for me, because it takes away from your ringtones (so I've been told) if you do choose myfaves.

At first I didn't care for the text message t9 mode, but figured out how to maneuver it, it's a cinch now. The keyboard on this phone is the qwerty type, but not full qwerty, qwerty on the numbers. Still not bad, and keeps the size small while being highly functional.

The front LCD shows a colorful display of a blue sky with green grass upon turning the phone on or shutting it down. The phone will dim after a few seconds of flipping the lid, but the time, date, and battery life remains. I also love the fact that if you've missed a call, the external LCD will tell you the last person that called and whether or not you have a voicemail. If more than one person has called and left messages when you open the phone, the screen will show you each person that called along with whether they left a message. Samsung has the best call records screen I've seen. It tells you the date and time someone called, as well as how many times that person has called you.

I do miss the service light that blinked when you had a new text message or a new voicemail from the Samsung 715. Hey, overall, I would say this is the best phone T-Mo offers. I have very minor complaints and would purchase it again; however, I must admit it isn't the cheapest phone if you aren't a new customer. I had to pay 249.99 and extend the contract for 2 years, but I don't mind because the myfaves plan is the best deal going!

Bottom line: I would highly recommend this phone!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good phone with one exception., February 8, 2007

This review is from: T-Mobile Samsung SGHT719 GSM Flip Mobile phone for TMobile Cell-phone Service (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This phone is reasonably sized and not too thick for a flip-phone, which I wanted because my previous phone (choc bar) screen had got scratched and cloudy. Also I was fed up with dealing with external buttons getting pressed accidentally. I also wanted bluetooth (for the car) and a reasonably good still-shot camera (it does video too) with more than 1Mpixel, as video-only resolution cameras are really not very good quality. Unlike some phones, there is no external button to turn on its camera with the case closed - a really good thing. This phone seems to fit the bill, except because of all the extra functions, doing basic operations is somewhat more complex than I would like.

My biggest problem with this phone is the decision to use a QWERTY keyboard. If a company gives a number like 1-800-XXXHELP, how do you readily translate the letters to numbers? When I use a QWERTY keyboard, my finger memory allows me to use it efficiently. This does NOT translate into correct finger memory when holding the phone in one hand and using one or two fingers with the other hand. It would be much easier to use the old-style keyboard in this case. I guess its the Blackberry influence ;^(

Finally, if you use a bluetooth connection with your car for so-called hands-free operation, then when the car is started or the phone first switched on in the car, then the phone prompts you to confirm if you want to make a connection to the car. This is a real pain - you start driving and the phone starts to beep at you until you get it out of your pocket (not always easy when driving), flip it open and confirm. This may not be a safe thing to do while driving, but the alternative is to try to ignore the beeps, or to pull over and do the deed safely. Why can't they have a mode that just establishes a connection automatically for selected devices? Do other phones do this?

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice phone combined with good features, April 11, 2007

This review is from: T-Mobile Samsung SGHT719 GSM Flip Mobile phone for TMobile Cell-phone Service (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this phone with the ~$100 money back, it was the cheapest for T-mobile >$39 service. If what you need is just a phone and phone related features--not pda or mp3 stuff--it's a great one
Pros:
1. Very handy Voice command dialing (especially when with bluetooth earphone)
2. Large display but not a clumsy looking like Motorola razors.
3. Camera can spin to facing you or facing the direction you are looking. You can take photo for yourself easily. (I don't use cellphone camera, but someone may.)
Cons:
Battery life sucks. You have charge at least twice a week if you don't use it. If you use it, charge every other day.
