I have taught GED for several years and we constantly use the TABE tests. I like the test because it is easy to administer and easy to grade.
Recently, many professionals need to update their files and continue to show "language proficiency" in reading and comprehension for writing reports. This book will help you to prepare for such a test.
Also, if you work in a more "hand's on" job, then you may need to refresh your skills in reading. Even as people get older, they need to continue to work on vocabulary, writing and reading skills. The TABE test is a great instrument for educators and students.
I recommend this book for someone who does not have time to take a remedial English class. This book is a great tool for study. I do agree it is "the First Step to Lifelong Success" as a student and for any professional.
I believe that adults need a refresher course from time to time no matter what profession they are in. GED students will most likely be familiar to the TABE tests because it is used to help the teacher locate the grade level of the student through the test scores. They help the student by the practice of taking tests. This is a book designed to help the student improve their skills by taking the TABE test.
It is also a great tool for students who are bilingual.

Como enseño el examen del GED, tengo que usar el TABE test para calificar el nivel del alumno. Por eso, el libro es muy provechoso para mejorarse en los estudios generales.

The book is very detailed. I wish the book was more compact. I only need it the math section. But overall is a great to have and study before taking the TABE.

This book provided a good review of Math and English when I had to take a state test for a job..I would recommend it.

I've used the TABE test before some 8 years ago and loved them. That's why I purchased it again. Keep up the good work.

Great info & easy to learn. Only one problem some answer keys are incorrect, so be careful!

This book is nice for knowing what will be on the placement test. I need to brush up on my math and this did nothing but confuse me. I have other books that are more useful than this one. I've been out of high school for years and I could comprehend math problems when I need to. This book did not satisfy me at all. I will continue to keep practicing with other books before I take the test. If you're in a crunch like me and you just want to know what could be on the test get this book. If you really need to score high to get into nursing I wouldn't recommend this book unless you have the time to through lessons and lessons before you get to the answer key.

Not what I thought it would be. I was expecting a different and easier approach instead it confussed me more.

I purchased the TABE reference in order to study for an examination I was required to take in order to receive a grant for continuing education after a recent layoff from my former employer.

I attempted to check out this same reference from the local library but found that the many copies they offered were already loaned out but I went ahead and reserved my copy in the event one was available. Meanwhile the examination was looming and although I was using other resources to study for the test I really needed the TABE resource and when I couldn't wait any longer (for the library to come through) I went ahead and purchase from Amazon this book. I opted for the fastest shipping which is not the cheapest way to go but I needed the book immediately so I would still have time to study for the test.

As luck would have it I received the book from Amazon the very next day (next day delivery) but wouldn't you know, I received an e-mail from my local library saying that the same TABE book was in for me check out! Ughhh. It is funny that I first purchased the book for less than $15.00 which wasn't bad. But then I paid an additional $20.00 to have it shipped overnite and never really needed it.

I did pass the exam and eneded up donating the book from Amazon to the local library so in the end everyone benefited.

It arrived quickly, and in good condition. I never have to wait long for Amazon!
