Product Description

Color: Blue

Tired of the original wooden, small diameter drum stick. Here is your perfect alternative. The whole body of this drum stick will light up in flame red or electric blue when striked on any surface, giving you a dramatic light show when playing drummer in Rock Band or Guitar Hero. Now who said drummer is always sitting behind the scene!! Comes in two beautiful colors: flame red and electric blue.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Battery System, August 11, 2008
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: TAC DSK-BLU Illuminated Drum Sticks - Blue (Accessory)
The drum sticks are comfortable, but heavier than the stock Rock Bank wooden drum sticks (not that I mind that). Inserting the batteries however turned out to be a miserable experience. The instructions say to just insert two batteries in the drum stick ends. What they don't tell you is that there is a thin metal ribbon that runs the length of the battery compartment that needs to wrap around the batteries. If you just shove in the batteries (the way you would expect), the metal ribbon gets crammed into the lighting mechanism and breaks. A neat gimmick but the quality of these sticks is not very good.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fragile, Poor Quality, and Lousy Feel, August 23, 2008
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
Three words: DO NOT BUY. The day I received these drumsticks I drummed three songs with them, and one drumstick is already not functioning properly. The sticks have an LED that glows for about 3 seconds every time they strike something, but one of my sticks now flashes for only a split second. Broken after three songs? Not good.

This is not the only problem I've had with these drumsticks. Each stick is made of two pieces that are screwed together: the base that holds the LED and batteries, and the clear tip that enhances the LED's glow. As I was drumming along, the two pieces would gradually unscrew and I'd have to tighten it maybe every other song, if not every song. This is pretty annoying because it causes the drumsticks to rattle back and forth as you're playing. Overall the sticks have a really cheap feel to them. I get the feeling that if I were to drum really hard that a stick may snap in half.

These sticks are thick and pretty heavy too, especially compared to the stock wooden sticks. I would not recommend anyone buying these sticks unless you want to frustrate yourself while drumming. It's fun to see these drumsticks light up when you play with them, but they are poor quality and not worth the price. I will be returning mine.

These sticks are a fun little addition to the rockband setup - When you strike with the stick the lights glow then fade with each strike, so it gives a nice interactive light show when playing drums. They arent overly bright so they dont distract from the game, but they are bright enough to notice.

Unlike the previous reviewer, I didnt have an issue installing the batteries - it came with a clear instruction sheet that shows you have to insert them between the metal clips inside the stick tube.

The overall construction seems decent, but they dont feel indestructible either - I'd be wary of striking with extreme force. They are certainly solid enough for normal aggressive play though, and they are a tad bit heavier than the standard sticks - something to note if you get tired quickly playing the drums.

For $20 this is definitely a luxury item and not a necessity, but if you are really into Rock Band or drumming in general, these are a fun purchase.
