Poor Quality Battery System,

The drum sticks are comfortable, but heavier than the stock Rock Bank wooden drum sticks (not that I mind that). Inserting the batteries however turned out to be a miserable experience. The instructions say to just insert two batteries in the drum stick ends. What they don't tell you is that there is a thin metal ribbon that runs the length of the battery compartment that needs to wrap around the batteries. If you just shove in the batteries (the way you would expect), the metal ribbon gets crammed into the lighting mechanism and breaks. A neat gimmick but the quality of these sticks is not very good.

Fragile, Poor Quality, and Lousy Feel,
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: TAC DSK-RED Illuminated Drum Sticks - Red (Accessory)
Three words: DO NOT BUY. The day I received these drumsticks I drummed three songs with them, and one drumstick is already not functioning properly. The sticks have an LED that glows for about 3 seconds every time they strike something, but one of my sticks now flashes for only a split second. Broken after three songs? Not good.
This is not the only problem I've had with these drumsticks. Each stick is made of two pieces that are screwed together: the base that holds the LED and batteries, and the clear tip that enhances the LED's glow. As I was drumming along, the two pieces would gradually unscrew and I'd have to tighten it maybe every other song, if not every song. This is pretty annoying because it causes the drumsticks to rattle back and forth as you're playing. Overall the sticks have a really cheap feel to them. I get the feeling that if I were to drum really hard that a stick may snap in half. These sticks are thick and pretty heavy too, especially compared to the stock wooden sticks. I would not recommend anyone buying these sticks unless you want to frustrate yourself while drumming. It's fun to see these drumsticks light up when you play with them, but they are poor quality and not worth the price. I will be returning mine.

These sticks are a fun little addition to the rockband setup - When you strike with the stick the lights glow then fade with each strike, so it gives a nice interactive light show when playing drums. They arent overly bright so they dont distract from the game, but they are bright enough to notice.
Unlike the previous reviewer, I didnt have an issue installing the batteries - it came with a clear instruction sheet that shows you have to insert them between the metal clips inside the stick tube. The overall construction seems decent, but they dont feel indestructible either - I'd be wary of striking with extreme force. They are certainly solid enough for normal aggressive play though, and they are a tad bit heavier than the standard sticks - something to note if you get tired quickly playing the drums. For $20 this is definitely a luxury item and not a necessity, but if you are really into Rock Band or drumming in general, these are a fun purchase.

Poor quality, not worth any money,

Even with the batteries and such installed properly, I found these drumsticks to be much louder than the sticks packaged with the game. They rattled a little with each hit (and yes, I checked that they were fully screwed together).
Worse yet, after maybe three or four songs of drumming, one snapped in half! These are a great idea, executed in an incredibly cheap and shoddy manner.

Kinda Fun,

Okay, so when you strike the drum they get bright and begin to fade immediately until you strike again. They work as advertised and look REALLY cool. The only little problem is the vibration they cause in your hands when you strike the drum. I typically go back to using the wooden sticks because the recoil is a bit rough on a plastic drum stick.

It is near impossible to insert batteries in these sticks. Terrible design. Broke in first 10 minutes out of package. Read the reviews. Don't buy! Waste of $$!

These sticks suck as sticks......unless you really like the sound of plastic rattle every time you hit something. They might be worth the 2 dollars I paid for them at thanksgiving if I break them out for a rock band party just because of the lights, but I would not let them near my drumset otherwise.

These are heavier than the wooden drumsticks that come with Rock Band (not that I mind that). However, About three songs of drumming, they don't work anymore! They both just flash for like 1/2 a second. On one of the harder songs, One smashed to bits (the glass and lights part of course). Also note that these are made up of two parts, the base holding the batteries and the stick part with the light. Overall, do not gt these, they're very cheaply made.

Sent them back,
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars

I too had trouble with the batteries and sent them back. The instruction sheet pictured sliding 2 AAA batteries into each stick, which seemed simple enough. However, as the other reviewer stated, there is a metal clip inside that is apparently supposed to be removed with a paperclip. I jammed them in without knowing this which of course caused them not to work. After doing so, I found a 2nd version of the instruction sheet buried in the box which pictured the correct way. Too late at that point. Even if this wasn't an issue, they would have gone back. They felt like sticks of glass that would shatter at any moment.

I bought this as a Christmas present and couldn't even get the batteries in. Then after hitting them together twice one broke.
