The TAG Heuer Story

TAG Heuer traces its roots to the small Swiss village of St-Imier where, in 1860, a watchmaker named Edouard Heuer opened his first shop. His vision was to create remarkable timepieces that pushed the envelope of innovation and precision. The company's reputation grew, and Heuer's first patent for a chronograph mechanism in 1882 was followed by a long list of achievements: the first stopwatch accurate to 1/100 of a second, the first dashboard stopwatch for race cars, the first miniature electronic timekeeping device accurate to 1/1000th of a second, and the first automatic movement with a microrotor, to name just a few.

Over the years, Heuer's reputation for gold-standard precision earned the company the privilege of providing official timing services for a number of world-class competitive sporting events, including the Olympic Games, the FIS Ski World Cup, and the FIA Formula 1 World Championships. To this day, TAG Heuer maintains a close association with the world of competitive sports and enjoys a devoted following among sports celebrities and enthusiasts. In 1985, Heuer joined the TAG (Techniques D'Avant-Garde) group, and the TAG Heuer name and logo were created. Now one of the most recognized and sought-after watch brands in the world, TAG Heuer continues its reputation of innovative design and technological excellence, creating prestigious timepieces that are always at the cutting edge of precision, reliability and style.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tag Heuer Aquaracer Calibre S, May 7, 2010

This review is from: TAG Heuer Men's CAF7110.BA0803 Aquaracer Calibre S Regatta Chronograph Watch (Watch)
The watch itself is an amazing piece of engineering. The movements of the hands when switching between Chrono and Time modes never cease to amaze me. So far it appears to be keeping time really well and when your not using the watch for a prolonged period of time you can put it into Chrono mode to stop the second hand from moving to prolong battery life and let the internal computer keep time.
The blue dial looks great with casual or formal wear and I've have had multiple compliments about it. I was also told it looked original when I took it to a Local Tag Heuer Dealer to get my bracelet adjusted.
Amazon offered a great price as I would have had to pay about a thousand dollars more to get it locally. Considering it was significantly cheaper and didn't come with an international warranty like it would when buying from an authorized dealer; I wasn't too surprised when I found some flaws with the product.
The hands don't line up perfectly on the markers when you put the watch into Chrono mode ; the minute hand either sits slightly in front of the 12 o clock position or slightly behind despite multiple attempts at resetting the hands. The same was also the case with the watch mode marker which also shows the first digit of the date. Additionally the second hands don't always hit the second markers spot on as you would expect for a watch of this price. Having said, these are quite minor defects that one will only notice with close inspection.
The bracelet is also easily scratched much to my surprise considering the quality I was expecting from a watch of this price.
Hence, great care needs to be taken if your going to be using this watch for everyday wear. However, I was told superficial scratches can be polished out when you service your watch during a battery change.
So its not a bad product for the price but if your wanting perfection like a gift for a loved one; I would rather pay the full price and purchase it from a reputable dealer with an international guarantee because if your an overseas based buyer like myself, getting the watch sent back to the States for repair could be a real problem. Hope this helps ; purchase wisely.

My wife bought me this watch for Christmas and it is beautiful. It is even nicer in person. I can't believe the price she got it for on Amazon. I would have paid double for this watch.

This review is from: TAG Heuer Men's CAF7110.BA0803 Aquaracer Calibre S Regatta Chronograph Watch (Watch)
If I could give the watch zero stars, I would. My husband wanted this watch for sometime and after looking at several places both brick and mortar and online, we decided to buy through Amazon. I bought this watch for my husband as both a birthday present and to celebrate the birth of our son. This watch has not worked properly from day one. It has been sent for repair through Amazon 4 times and each time it comes back working. However, when my husband goes to set the watch, it stops working. I am currently trying to get a refund for this lemon, but I do not have high hopes for receiving anything. I bought from Amazon knowing that this watch was a gray market watch, but decided that Amazon would not sell second class watches. I have bought many high-end items through Amazon and have always been completely satisfied. However, this watch purchase is a different story. If I had it to do over again, I would buy this watch from a reputable, authorized dealer. It is not worth the savings nor hassles and disappointment that we have endured trying to get this watch repaired. At this point, my husband does not want another watch, he can't even bear to look at this one any longer. It is a shame that something I brought to celebrate such a wonderful time in our lives has turned out to be such a painful and taxing experience. Caveat Emptor!!
