Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Featuring an exclusive electro-mechanical movement developed and patented by TAG Heuer, this Link Calibre S men's watch (model CJF7110.BA0587) combines mechanical and quartz timekeeping to offer unrivaled functionality thanks to no fewer than 230 components--including 5 bidirectional motors, ensure very high-precision functions. Its intuitive, easy-to-read chronograph offers 1/100 of a second precision and offers measurement of simple time, split time, and two periods of time that follow at very short intervals. When not used as a chronograph, the two half-moon subdials indicate the date (with a perpetual calendar applicable until 2099). It has a black dial face with shining silver hour markers and luminous hands. It's matched to a stainless steel bracelet band composed of satin-finished S-shaped links, and the watch case is topped by a tachymeter (used for measuring time over distance). Other features include an anti-reflective scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)--

The TAG Heuer Story

TAG Heuer traces its roots to the small Swiss village of St-Imier where, in 1860, a watchmaker named Edouard Heuer opened his first shop. His vision was to create remarkable timepieces that pushed the envelope of innovation and precision. The company's reputation grew, and Heuer's first patent for a chronograph mechanism in 1882 was followed by a long list of achievements: the first stopwatch accurate to 1/100 of a second, the first dashboard stopwatch for race cars, the first miniature electronic timekeeping device accurate to 1/1000th of a second, and the first automatic movement with a microrotor, to name just a few.

Over the years, Heuer's reputation for gold-standard precision earned the company the privilege of providing official timing services for a number of world-class competitive sporting events, including the Olympic Games, the FIS Ski World Cup, and the FIA Formula 1 World Championships. To this day, TAG Heuer maintains a close association with the world of competitive sports and enjoys a devoted following among sports celebrities and enthusiasts. In 1985, Heuer joined the TAG (Techniques D'Avant-Garde) group, and the TAG Heuer name and logo were created. Now one of the most recognized and sought-after watch brands in the world, TAG Heuer continues its reputation of innovative design and technological excellence, creating prestigious timepieces that are always at the cutting edge of precision, reliability and style.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great watch, if you have money to burn, December 30, 2007
Just got this watch and I have to tell you it is really nice. You can dress it us or dress it down. The Saphire Crystal can only be scratched by a diamond or another saphire. It has anti-glare crystal so it looks like it has no glass compared to a regular watch side by side. When it does reflect light, it makes the black bezel look dark blue or sometimes deep purple.

It tells the date by using the two smaller dials that resemble a tachonmeter. It says it has a perpetual calander, so you don't have to touch it on short months or even leap years... it does it automatically!

I got this for my wedding anaversary... so unless you have just under $3,000 to burn... I would just get someting else..lol.. This is a serious time peice, and looks smart, and tech-wise. This watch suttley states, "it's a nice watch, and if you only knew how much it costs!" lol

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent watch for everyday use, August 8, 2009

Bought this watch for myself after looking at a lot of other watches from many brands, mostly automatic swiss watches.
Couldn't find what I really wanted (I can't really wear a watch with a larger than 42 mm. case without looking stupid) and finally settled on the TAG Heuer Link Calibre S. It was a surprise for me at the end not to buy an automatic watch but I must admit the Calibre S movement bluffed me. Very clever.
This is a watch that looks good but not too much so that you can really wear it everyday. It is heavy when in the hand but you don't feel the weight when you wear it. The combination of anti-glare crystal, black dial and the angled hands is beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, December 12, 2008

Ordinarily I might get all technical about a purchase, but in this case (that's a watch pun, I guess), and for a watch of this type, it's really more about taste and aesthetics. Heck, if you want to time things to the nanosecond, get a Casio or whatever. Just my opinion.

I bought the watch for myself as a birthday present. I love the way it looks and how the band feels; the ensemble is so well designed that it's extremely comfortable despite the heft of the stainless case. I like the feature (which I didn't know about when I bought the watch) that allows one to turn off the moving mechanism, say, overnight; at a press of the crown, the hands zero out to save the battery. Another press in the morning, and the electronics send them back to the right spot. It's a little worrisome to read that the projected battery life is a couple of years (versus the five years or more that I've experienced with other watches), but I haven't had the watch long enough yet to worry about it. The other comment to make is that buying a watch on the Internet often means that one must do with the vendor's warranty rather than the manufacturer's. The discount makes that worthwhile, in my opinion, although of course the high-end sellers and manufacturers disagree.
