I had considered purchasing the watch from a jeweler just for the sake of having the Tag warrenty. 3.0 out of 5 stars Nice watch, horrible packaging...
The watch was packaged in a box that was too big for it and there was minimal protection in the package at all. When I picked up the box the watch was in, it appeared the watch was just rolling around in it. Not knowing that this was the Tag Heuer box until I opened it. I am highly disappointed in the way that this was packaged and I might seek a refund if after...

5.0 out of 5 stars Aquaracer Quartz Alarm, March 23, 2010

I have owned my Aquaracer for about 8 months now and it has proven to be very accurate and reliable. Several reviewers on different sites have complained about the alarm feature and at first it confused me too. After CAREFULLY reading the manual I realized that it is normal for the alarm hands to rotate when pulling out the stem to set the time on the watch. This is part of the alarm synchronization procedure. After setting the time the alarm needs to be synchronized to the time set. This is done while the watch is still in time set mode with the crown pulled all the way out. Then just hold the alarm button in till the alarm hands show exactly the same time as the watch hands. When the crown is pushed back in the alarm hands return to their previously set position and are synchronized. Once this is done the alarm is accurate to the second. I have never before seen an analog watch with an alarm that sounded on the second.

I am quite impressed with the quality of this watch. The crown and stem screw in nicely and the sapphire crystal is still without the slightest scratch. The one way rotating bezel has 120 clicks for a complete rotation and requires enough effort to turn that it has never moved unintentionally. The luminous coating on the hands and face markings are very bright and keep usable brightness all night. This is always my watch of choice now when I expect to be out at night. The date display is well done and quite readable at the unique six o'clock position. While the bracelet uses pressed in pins for adjustment rather than threaded screws, the pins press into small bushings that work quite well and the bracelet feels well made. I also like the fact that Tag Heuer did not try to copy the Rolex Submariner or Omega Seamaster as so many other makers have, but created their own style with the Aquaracer line. And finally I like the size. I know that huge watches are quite in style these days but my wrists are a bit small and at 38.4 mm the case is a very nice size that looks and feels good to wear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great purchase for husband, November 12, 2008
This review is from: TAG Heuer Men's WAF111Z.BA0801 Aquaracer Alarm Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
Bought new Tag for anniversary present, was a little hesitant making a large purchase online, but had no problems. In fact, both my credit card company and Amazon called to confirm that I had made the purchase. Shipment arrived promptly with no damages. My husband loves the watch and "retired" his old Tag. Love the watch, love Amazon.com.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, August 30, 2010

This review is from: TAG Heuer Men's WAF111Z.BA0801 Aquaracer Alarm Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
Not being a "Jewelry" person, it took me two years to talk myself into buying this watch. After watching the price go down and up and down again (Dollar/Euro rate)at the non-authorized dealers, I decided it was as low as it was going to go(the authorized dealer price has stayed fixed at $1700). Amazon was almost sold out,so I pulled the trigger. Amazon is reputable (kind of hard to send that kind of money to "Billy Bob's Watch World") and they offer the same two year warranty as the a.d., so I puchased from them. The watch has the quality I expected and the look I wanted, but there are a couple of things that keep it from being a four star item.
The alarm feature (which is why I chose this model) is complicated to set and I was very dissapointed in the extremly weak sound of the alarm. I have good hearing and I can barely hear it in a quiet environment when I am expecting it. I think it would be hopeless when "things are going on" which is one of the main uses for an alarm. Other than that,it's all I expected.

Plus- according to that black golfer guy who does the ads, it's a total babe magnet.

I started my watch collection 2 years ago with this one. Always wanted a black, white and a blue watch for my collection. Bought this black one to start my collection and now own a Tag Aquaracer (Alarm & black dial), Omega Speedmaster(Day & Date, Automatic, Silver dial), Omega Seamaster (Automatic, White dial, circa 1960) and Breitling Aeromarine Colt (Automatic, Blue dial) besides a bunch of Bulova, Citizen, Seiko, Timex etc. This is a very good and stunning all-round watch for all occasions - formal, casual, sports etc. I prefer my blue Breitling Colt otherwise - on most occasions and the Breitling is my favorite watch.

I don't use the alarm much though it looks good and add character to the dial. Sound / Beep is not loud enough - and can be only heard if there is a pin-drop silence, your are not fast asleep and are half expecting it to o-off. I travel frequently and so have to constantly adjust the time to local time zones. Doing so shifts the alarm calibration as well. So each time I need to set the alarm - need to calibrate it also again which is a pain. No scratches on the glass after more than 2 years of good use. Keeps accurate time. Not heavy or big sized for my wrist. Simple yet elegant ! Love it !!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice watch, horrible packaging..., February 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: TAG Heuer Men's WAF111Z.BA0801 Aquaracer Alarm Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
The watch was packaged in a box that was too big for it and there was minimal protection in the package at all. When I picked up the box the watch was in, it appeared the watch was just rolling around in it. Not knowing that this was the Tag Heuer box until I opened it. I am highly disappointed in the way that this was packaged and I might seek a refund if after examination of the watch that I find it to be a refurbished item. I state this due to the Tag Heuer box being scuffed and the watch itself being mishandled in packaging. Amazon had better wake up when it comes to quality control.

Update: I tested the watch and it is defective. While trying to adjust the time on the watch, the alarm dial started to spin erratically and than it stopped on 2:29 and then started again to spin erratically and than stopped at 8:30 and didn't spin again. Take note I was just trying to adjust the time dials. When I went to adjust the alarm it worked okay but it has it's own control and it should not have been spinning when I was adjusting the time dials. I followed the instructions in the manual to the letter, it is quality control with the company that Amazon contracts with.

From the second that I unscrewed the crown -- this watch features a crown that screws in for water tightness -- it felt flimsy and poorly secured. Plus pulling the crown out to the 2 position started the alarm function to go off on its own, as mentioned above.

Furthermore, Amazon will not replace this product. The best they will do is a refund, which takes 7-14 days from the time they receive the returned product. And they require you to go to the post office and mail it via insured USPS mail, instead of having UPS (the delivery company) pick it up.

Amazon's price is great, as is TAG's reputation, but this situation has left a bad taste in my mouth with regard to both companies. The watch is going back. Also as a warning, the site on which you register your watch ([..]) has Tag Heuer misspelled, they have it spelled as Tag Hauer. Tells you what type of service you will get from them. Probably outsourced to India who outsources to China.
