TAG...you're it!,

High quality TAG at a discounted price! I saw this watch in a jewelry store for 1,000 dollars more than Amazon.com. I was skeptical about buying such a high ticket item online, but have no regrets. The price is discounted but the quality is not hampered. I spoke to Amazon re: my purchase and the customer service was stellar! I bought this as a gift, and the receiver was surprised and pleased. Great buy! Very nice beautiful watch.

I have had my Link Auto Caliber 5 (Black Face) for a month and love it. When it was delivered I immediately unpacked it, inspected and then was out the door to get it sized. I had called around and sizing ran $15 to $25 depending on the store. I opted to go to an authorized dealer and paid $25. My wrist is just under 7.25" and had 3 links removed. The watch looks fantastic in person and in certain lighting/angles the face does look blue at times. I really like the brushed metal bracelet and case with the high polish bezel and crown. Watch has a good weight to it, but not too heavy IMO. I was looking for a watch that I could wear with a tux, to work and also when wearing jeans. The Link fits the bill!! Bracelets are going to get banged up no matter what and having a brushed bracelet helps disguise those scrapes. The unidirectional bezel is designed for diving, but is fantastic for daily use. Example: You put money into the parking meter and have 35 minutes, instead of trying to remember the time, just spin the bezel so that the lumen dot is aligned with your minute hand and off you go. Once the minute hand gets near the "35" on the bezel, you know you need to head back. I also like that the date is at 6 o'clock versus the more common 3 o'clock. The only thing I wish was that the bracelet had a micro-adjust. It would definitely help everyone get a "perfect" fit. If the price for this watch is still on the high side, then I suggest you take a look at the Hamilton automatics. Great bang for your buck with quality Swiss movements.

As an another reviewer mentioned this watch is understated and heavy. The face is cleanly detailed and little larger than I expected. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal is phenomenal, it leaves a dark blue hue at certain angles. I like the overall look, feel and apparent quality of the watch. It is sharp looking and bound get comments from admirers. The exhibition case back, also sapphire crystal, displays the Swiss ETA movement. TAG Heuer visibly decorated the movement with Côtes de Genève (means-Geneva waves) and jeweling (small spirals). I've had no issues with accuracy or power reserve.
If you buy through Amazon,or any other unauthorized dealer, the (two year) international warranty card will not be included. Given the savings, I was willing to take the risk and hope that the Amazon two year warranty will cover any issues that may arise. The serial number is visible and unmodified. Despite purchasing through Amazon, I was still able to register my watch directly on the TAG Heuer website. My dislikes are minor - No fine adjustment on the bracelet clasp and the bracelet itself scratches easily. I have small wrists, with no fine adjustment and being a heavy watch, the watch tends to slide, uncomfortably, against the back of my hand.

I've already had this watch for almost a year now, and it's really accurate. I'm definitly going to buy more watches from Amazon. Hope they can keep up with this great service.

TAG Link beautiful, but don't take it off, or it will stop,

I was very excited to purchase a perpetual motion TAG Link, as I have always wanted a self-winding watch. It's very well made, heavy, classy, understated, and I have gotten a lot of nice compliments on it. However, if anyone asks you the time, be prepared to be embarrassed by giving them the wrong answer. I have gotten used to taking my watch off when I enter my house, and I set it on a cabinet. I discovered about a month after purchasing it, that the whole point of perpetual motion is that it has to keep moving to keep working! It's been frustrating to have to reset the time and date once a week when it stops on its own. I've been late to appointments and have written the wrong date on documents because of this. Otherwise, it's a phenomenal conversation piece-- everyone recognizes a good TAG when they see one.

Heavy, clunky and uncomfortable,

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BUYING THIS WATCH, THIS REVIEW IS FOR YOU.
IF YOU ALREADY BOUGHT THIS WATCH, YOU ARE GOING TO MARK MY REVIEW AS "NOT HELPFUL" AND THEN PROBABLY LEAVE NASTY COMMENTS. But, you would be right. If already bought this watch, then it is too late and this review will not be helpful for you. To be honest, I have the version with the silver face instead of the black face. I like the black face much better. To calibrate: I am big boned, fairly athletic and lift weights (but am not in perfect shape). My wrists are probably bigger than normal. I cannot wrap my hand around my wrist and touch my finger thumb. Wearing this watch, I found it to be clunky, heavy and very uncomfortable. The clasps dig into my skin and the band clunks against my wrist bone. It comes with the watchband much larger than my wrist. I had to have it resized by taking out 1 link. The nice thing about this watch, is after you take out the links, there is still a finer adjustment to get it to fit perfectly. So, now it is just perfect, not too tight or too loose. So, with the watch fitting perfectly, it hurts my wrist. It is a relief when I take it off at the end of the day. I always have marks on the inside of my wrist from the clasp. The watchband used to pull on my arm hair, but now most of it has been pulled out, so that is not much of a problem anymore. The worst part is that the band bangs up against my wrist bones, especially when I am typing. I do get used it after awhile, but my wrist still gets sore if I wear the watch all day. If you have skinny wrists, small bones and are not hairy like an ape, maybe it won't be so bad for you. I got the watch as anniversary gift from my company. I wear it because I am just as vain as the next guy. I like to show off that I have a watch that cost more than $1000. But, make no mistake, this is a status symbol. It is for people with money to burn, or people who are foolish with there money (those people who buy this with a credit card and are still paying it off years later). For a tenth of the price, you can buy a watch that: +keeps better time +has more functions +is more comfortable +looks better...well that's a matter of opinion -doesn't have the status symbol name Before you buy this, you really should go to a store and try it on. The only problem is that the band will not be fitted for you and you don't know how it will really feel. I know I will get some nasty comments left. No one wants to see a bad review for something that cost them over $1000. |
