Appearance disappointing. Mechanically okay.

Though a heavy Amazon buyer (see my reviews), I purchased this on the Costco online site. Paid $ 200 more on the Costco site, plus $ 100 sales tax. Received it yesterday, returned it today. The name Tag Heuer is very hard to read. Miniscule really, not enlarged like the photo. No purpose in buying an entry level watch for the name, and having the name so small that nobody can see it. I really believe they intentionally gave the entry level watches a very plain appearance so they wouldn't compete with the higher end line.
We have 2 Rolexes, about 25 years old. We have retired those for special occasions, as we tired of paying $ 600 - $ 800 dollars every 4-5 years for a cleaning. Purchased this Tag for my wife, after her everyday VICTORINOX stopped working after 9 years. Never had a cleaning. The Tag is singularly unimpressive. After purchasing, found out that a cleaning (recommended every 3-4 years is $ 300-$400. For a quartz movement? The Rolexes are self winding and much more intricate to clean.
Just ordered another higher end VICTORINOX for my wife. Less money. Much more attractive watch from a quality maker, with the same quartz movement inside. Better mfg warranty too. The mfg warranty doesn't apply to purchases from Costco or Amazon as they are not authorized dealers. They are called grey market watches. Costco warranty beats anyone's so who cares. Anytime you notice that the seller provides their own warranty, it means it's a grey market watch. Not a problem with a good seller. Tag Warranty only covers what's inside the case. The band breaks, the stem falls out. Not covered by Tag Warranty.
