3.0 out of 5 stars Doubleshot Reviews book review October 8, 2011

ane Nelson's world is turned upside down when, upon doing research for her web design company, she inadvertently joins a chat room where the group is not discussing fishing tactics, but plans that will line their pockets and ruin thousands financially. Caught lurking, Jane goes on the run and winds up seeking help from Jack, a gentleman who's private emails to his wife she accidentally received in error. Will Jane and Jack be able to uncover the people behind this conspiracy with their lives in tact? Or will they be found and silenced like the others who have crossed their path?

Takedown by Anna Murray is a very fast paced read. The characters were fun and well developed. I genuinely liked Jane. She was intelligent, spunky and had a great sense of humor. Jake was a true gentleman and you came to feel for the guy once learning all he has been going through.

Murray takes the reader on a whirl wind ride of intrigue and conspiracy with an added touch of romance that was pleasant to read without overpowering the rest of the story. For me, there is a fine line between fast paced edge of your seat action and suspense and a story being too fast and furious. My personal opinion is that Takedown leaned to the side of too fast, as in things seemed to get wrapped up entirely too quickly and cleanly to make the story believable.

Even with Takedown being a bit to cleanly wrapped up, for me, I still enjoyed the story and the characters and would definitely suggest this one for others to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I Could Give More Than 5 Stars April 1, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I started reading Takedown the other night, after climbing into bed, with the intention of plowing through a couple chapters and picking it up later. Next thing I knew, it was 3 a.m. That's the only thing that kept me from finishing this in one sitting.

Anna Murray spins a great story here, with a superb heroine and a great hero. The plot moves fast and is almost impossible to put down.

Set in 1996, at the beginning of the historic stock market boom, the novel also paints a grim picture of unchecked greed that would ultimately lead to an epic collapse in the following decade.

I can't say enough good things about this story. Strongly recommended to anyone who enjoys romance, crime, suspense, 1990s culture...a great, great read on all counts!

This is pretty good but it wrapped up a little too quickly and neatly, all of a sudden everything miraculously came in to place.
