This is a fascinating take on the vampire theme. Takers(vampires) creating halfturns who are both human and vampire!
I have been a fan of Chris Davis even before she became a published author. Her stories, Takers, and Takers II: Family are very well written and compelling. I found it almost impossible not to read the entire book in one sitting. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!!!!

It's not often that one such as myself that loves vampires, finds a novel such as Takers and Takers II: Family, a book by Chris Davis. The storyline of these novels combines both vampire and human in which they call themselves " halfturns". One great thing about the book is the way Chris has developed the characters. Each person has a definite personality.

Another great thing about the book is the plot. Whenever you think that things can't get worse, they can, and the books build toward more mystery and keeps you turning the pages to the finish that you hope won't happen...

Takers and Takers II: Family are great books and the characters are strange and interesting enough to make you want to know more about what will happen to them next. Can't wait for Takers III.

This picks up where "Takers" left off. Kel is a police detective who was recently changed into a "half-turn," a rare half-human, half-taker (a type of vampire). He is attempting to adjust to his physicial changes while dealing with the his need to kill to survive which goes against his own morality. The mystery started in "Takers" goes deeper as Kel learns more about the history of takers and how his own life has been entwined with the taker race from birth. Kel becomes deeply attatched to the two half-turns that he was helping in the first book as well as the taker who who helped him. Kel, previously a loner, continues to grow as the mystery deepens. There are plenty of surprises keeping the reader hungry for more. The next book in the series "Takers III" is scheduled for release in November and I can't wait!
