Editorial Reviews

Review

"Frantzis’ style of teaching demystifies ancient Chinese Taoist arts that have rarely, if ever, been taught in the West."
—Elizabeth Whitney, Yoga Journal

"Frantzis has spent most of his life studying various martial arts, meditation, and traditional Eastern healing systems. His fluency in Chinese and Japanese has allowed him to pursue these arts to an unprecedented depth for a Westerner."
—Clarence Lu, contributing writer, Inside Kung Fu

"The dissolving process described in this book gives practitioners an immediate tool for altering patterns of being that contribute to their suffering. That is the gift of the Water method."
—Michael J. Salveson, advanced instructor, past president, Rolf Institute

"I've read a number of books on meditation, but The Tao of Letting Go brings an aspect of this ancient practice to light that was previously unfamiliar to me. Along with an introduction to the Taoist Water method, detailed descriptions of beneficial meditation postures and author-guided practice sessions round out this 'meditation for modern living.'"
New Consciousness Review

“Collections strong in Taoism, meditation and spirituality will find a powerful pick in Bruce Frantzis' Tao of Letting Go: Meditation for Modern Living, which teaches techniques to help people overcome obstacles and learn to relax.”

4.0 out of 5 stars "Relax into your heart or being", July 8, 2009
I've read a number of books on meditation, but The Tao of Letting Go brings an aspect of this ancient practice to light that was previously unfamiliar to me. The Taoist tradition apparently includes a Water method" techniques; deep practices for "dissolving" internal blockages (physical or emotional), which eventually can bring a sense of compassion, balance, and wisdom. The actual term for dissolving (or letting go) is "sung shin," which means "to relax into your heart or being."
The Water method is a three-pronged teaching of meditation that is practical rather than cerebral. Along with an introduction to the Taoist Water method, detailed descriptions of beneficial meditation postures and author-guided practice sessions round out this "meditation for modern living." As with any meditation practice, it is a way of living rather than an isolated or quick-fix event, so be prepared to settle in to a powerful and rewarding creative process and to awaken your internal life-force energy.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Practical Guide to Meditation is a Gem, July 9, 2009
By
S. Kansky (Prescott, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)

This book is a delight to read. No mumbo jumbo here. This meditation is easy to learn and very effective for clearing out whatever is bothering you. Let this book take you by the hand and guide you step by step in your meditation practice. This book builds on Relaxing Into Your Being, The Water Method of Taoist Meditation Series, Volume 1 and The Great Stillness: The Water Method of Taoist Meditation Series, Vol. 2 to gently teach you how to recognize and feel subtle emotional blockages and clear them out once and for all.

Rich in practical tips, from how to sit with good posture so that you are free from distraction, and how to deal with mental fog and depression, grief, and emotional pain, this book is easy to follow and understand. I have never read such a clearly written book on meditation.

Chi practices for your health, such as chi gung and tai chi, can help you meditate more easily. If you want to further your progress towards a healthier and happier life, I also recommend Bruce Frantzis' other books, such as The CHI Revolution: Harnessing the Healing Power of Your Life Force, Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body: Chi Gung for Lifelong Health [OPENING THE ENERGY GATES OF YO], and Tai Chi: Health for Life.
