"Relax into your heart or being",
By
This review is from: TAO of Letting Go: Meditation for Modern Living (Paperback)
I've read a number of books on meditation, but The Tao of Letting Go brings an aspect of this ancient practice to light that was previously unfamiliar to me. The Taoist tradition apparently includes a Water method" techniques; deep practices for "dissolving" internal blockages (physical or emotional), which eventually can bring a sense of compassion, balance, and wisdom. The actual term for dissolving (or letting go) is "sung shin," which means "to relax into your heart or being."
The Water method is a three-pronged teaching of meditation that is practical rather than cerebral. Along with an introduction to the Taoist Water method, detailed descriptions of beneficial meditation postures and author-guided practice sessions round out this "meditation for modern living." As with any meditation practice, it is a way of living rather than an isolated or quick-fix event, so be prepared to settle in to a powerful and rewarding creative process and to awaken your internal life-force energy.

This Practical Guide to Meditation is a Gem,

This review is from: TAO of Letting Go: Meditation for Modern Living (Paperback)
This book is a delight to read. No mumbo jumbo here. This meditation is easy to learn and very effective for clearing out whatever is bothering you. Let this book take you by the hand and guide you step by step in your meditation practice. This book builds on Relaxing Into Your Being, The Water Method of Taoist Meditation Series, Volume 1 and The Great Stillness: The Water Method of Taoist Meditation Series, Vol. 2 to gently teach you how to recognize and feel subtle emotional blockages and clear them out once and for all. Rich in practical tips, from how to sit with good posture so that you are free from distraction, and how to deal with mental fog and depression, grief, and emotional pain, this book is easy to follow and understand. I have never read such a clearly written book on meditation. Chi practices for your health, such as chi gung and tai chi, can help you meditate more easily. If you want to further your progress towards a healthier and happier life, I also recommend Bruce Frantzis' other books, such as The CHI Revolution: Harnessing the Healing Power of Your Life Force, Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body: Chi Gung for Lifelong Health [OPENING THE ENERGY GATES OF YO], and Tai Chi: Health for Life.

If what you are looking for is a soothing music and the typical guided meditations then this is not for you. That said, this set has given me far more, it has given me understanding that I can apply to meditating and to life, and the ability to meditate with just some music, on my own at my own pace... it has demystified the process and brought with it some wisdom as well. He is able to break down the great mystic practices in the east in ways that a person from the west can understand, and in a way that makes enough common sense it is easily memorable. Given how many years of experience and understanding he is offering in this CD set it is more than worth it, better than any class you will find the the $$.

TAO of Letting Go: Meditation for Modern Living
Haven't finished listening, but up to now Frantzes has a very good and simple way of informing you on the who, what when, where, why and how of understanding the dissolving method of meditation. Ice to water, water to gas.

Impressive and Totally Worth it!,

If you are struggling with meditation and/or events in your life that are hard to get over this is definitely worth looking into. I listened to the book on audio and HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who has a short attention span. I have found the water method to be one of the best ways for me to stay focused during meditation. I really loved the way the book flowed and the insights it brought to me. One profound thought was when he mentions how we in the west always want to know the WHY and HOW of whatever block we have but a Chinese saying goes something like: If you are being tortured everyday and you finally get a choice to either END the torture or learn why you are being tortured, wouldn't you obviously want to stop the torture....
