For those who enjoy tatting patterns and interpreting their design and construction, this is a very nice little piece. It is a very old pattern--19th Century--and therefore not written quite like the usual modern design books are. A quick read through, though, will probably give you a good general understanding of the bag's construction, especially if you are an especially experienced tatter. Certainly a thorough study of the illustration of the bag itself (I have my computer hooked up to my 60" TV screen so I can actually see every nuance!) should augment your understanding enough to produce it quite adequately.Experience with adding beads to tatted works is essential here, since the bag makes heavy use of them in constructing the decorative sides, the tatting itself being more in the nature of a supporting net. I suspect that an experienced tatter, especially one who values the tatted motif over embellishments added to it, can probably come up with many ideas of their own with just the concept of the bag alone. It's an interesting design and a fun little bag.

I am a relatively experienced tatter and I found this pattern to be worthless at best. There is no picture of what the tatting will look like to help you produce what the directions describe and no mention of where to buy/how to make the purse to put it on. What a rip off!!
