Product Description

Now available in either BLACK or SILVER finish! This model allows you to connect up to five stereo aux level sources to one input. One or five or any combination in between can be selected to mix and play at once. Unused inputs can be "reversed" and used as outputs to additional amps or recording devices. Four jack sets are RCA type; the remaining two are 3.5mm stereo mini-jacks (the kind found on Discmen and MP3 players). Note that this product contains no amplifier, so you cannot use its output to drive wired headphones; however wireless headphones (which have their own built-in amps) will work fine with it. Again, you are purchasing the BLACK VERSION. To find the silver version, enter B004RVOEFK in the Amazon search bar.

Buttons work smoothly. Case is heavy duty. Very versatile device.

The six channels can be used as input or output. You can even have multiple outputs and inputs going at once. The device is very flexible in how you can use it. I have seen similar devices at radio shack for about the same price, but this is much higher quality, using more industrial construction methods.

Five stars, at least. Old school quality.

I bought this device thinking that I would be able to connect my 6 audio sources to my amplifier through its OUTPUT, but to my astonishment I could not find a traditional output port on this device. It turns out that you could use any pair of the 6 ports to be your output port to the amp and by doing this I could only connect 5 audio sources to my amp. So if you have 6 audio sources that you want to connect to 1 amp, be aware of this limitation, otherwise, the device is great.

The solution to my issue. Be informed that the selectors operates as a common place: you push a button and you connect the button assigned device to the common place. So, to connect the tuner to the amplifier, you have to push both buttons (the tuner one and the amplifier one). In a common utilization the amplifier button should be always depressed. It can handle five sources and one amplifier or four sources and two amplifier and so on, the sum of attached devices is six. Every channel has a 1 KOhm resistor so the signal going to the amplifier has to cross 2 resistors in serie and its impedance is increased by 2 KOhm. This prevents possible issues when matching devices but could attenuate a little the signal. Not a defect, this is a good way to have no hassle on not powered devices as this selector. If you push down two or more source buttons you will hear two or more audio programs. But it is not to be done, the tipically low output impedance of sources will lower the signal very much expecially if one source is powered off. Known this, it is an excellent and very flexible solution to connect an amplifier to more sources it could handle by itself. And, if you need, to connect one source to five amplifier (watch at the possible attenuation due to each amplifier input impedance). No ground loop in my case, not any noise imported. Five star without doubt!

Solider than consumer gear; nice clean switches.

Since each port can be either input or output and each is independently switched, the unit functions as a small audio router.

I'm using it to route the audio from home A/V equipment to a pair of powered speakers and to a common line out. 3 in, 2 out, 1 spare.

The fact that it is not powered is another plus.

All I could find at big box stores were flimsier A/V switches for more money. I had no need to switch the composite analog video (!) that those support.

This is a sturdy, well made audio component. It has a very straightforward layout with 6 audio inputs (2x3.5mm plugs/4xRCA plug-pairs) and durable two-position push-button switches. Inputs 1 & 2 are 3.5mm. Inputs 4-6 are RCA. I would have preferred inputs 1-4 as RCA but that's just my personal preference. The metal casing has weight and rigidity. Included are stickers to label your inputs. A big bonus is that this is not a powered device. You don't have to plug it in for power! I have used this for about a month to manage a line-level turntable, stereo audio-cassette deck and portable CD-player into my AV-receiver. The input sound level into my receiver is about what I would expect. Sound fidelity is crisp and clear. Keep in mind that you may need a pre-amp if trying to connect an old turntable to this unit. The component is small and unobtrusive. If you need an audio-selector without having the need for video, than I would highly recommend this product.

It works well. It is very sturdily made.

A word of warning - this unit connects ALL selected connections together. This means that you need to be careful that you do not select two or more outputs at once. Multiple inputs are fine, they are paralleled together - this is fine as long as the selected output device can drive all the selected inputs at once (usually not a problem).

My needs were a little more specific than others who reviewed this unit. I pretty much needed an audio splitter to connect my gaming headset to a PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. My setup beforehand had me unplugging the headset from one device, and then plugging it back into another device in order to use it. Time consuming and annoying to say the least.

Instead of buying an A/V switch that had composite, and s-video plugs that I'll never use, I came across the TC-716. It was perfect! I was able to connect my PS3, and X360 to the RCA stereo plugs in the back. My PC audio to one of the 3.5mm plugs, and my headset to the other 3.5mm plug. I can now switch between any audio source, or even have several audio sources all going to my headset. I combined this with a USB switch that connected one USB peripheral to several devices. I can switch the USB device in order to power the headset and get USB chat for the PC, and PS3.

Great product and a great find from Amazon. It's cheap too! I would've paid twice as much for a solution like this.
