SOLID construction, and it feels so natural.
Tom
The Level Pilot makes it easy to control the volume in very small increments, and don't need to worry about balancing the sound between the speakers.
Stephen Fried
I think its better to think of this as a breakout cable and extend them as needed.

If only ALL knobs were this incredible and well-built! I purchased this because my Event PS8 monitors are extremely loud, and even though I could control the monitor output volume via my MOTU Ultralite MK3, I wanted a cleaner, more elegant solution.

It took seconds to connect, looks sexy on the desk and is a JOY to use. It is heavy, rock-solid and the smoothest knob I've ever turned. I find myself turning it up and down just because it feels so smooth.

This volume knob is exactly what my studio needed. It looks beautiful, feels good on the touch and does not appear to affect the sound quality.Keep in mind the unit comes with 6 feet long cables (at best), so you might need to extend those cables depending on the size of your studio.

GREAT UNTIL....

A few years of use utterly destroyed one of the channels.

It's so scratchy when adjusting that the Right channel simply cuts out until you get to about half volume.

I suspect it's a manufacturing issue since I've had other people complain of the same problem.

Tried to clean out the pot with faderlube/deoxit and still nothing. Of course it starts going out shortly after the T.C. Electronics warranty ends.

Too expensive to purchase a new one and not built well enough.

All of the other reviews are spot on though--great while it works, terrible when it stops.

(purchased from Guitar Center, NOT Amazon)

Totally transparent, nice look and feel, very smooth for precise volume adjustment. This thing is the perfect size and the cords are high quality at a reasonable length. Between DAC and active speakers it is the perfect solution and the perfect replacement of any preamp.

This is a very simple, very clean-sounding volume knob. Not everyone wants to spend $80 on a volume knob, but if you're looking at this product, you probably know why you need it. I have two complaints, but otherwise this is a great product.
1) It doesn't "stay put" QUITE as much as I'd like. It's good most of the time due to the non-slip pad on the bottom.
2) At exTREMEly low volume levels, as you turn up the volume from silence, the right channel comes in just before the left. Don't let this keep you from buying it. I mean at EXTREMELY low levels. I monitor at a pretty wide variety of volume levels when listening to mixes, and I would never actually listen at the low volumes I'm talking about, but it's just enough to bug me a little :)
Overall, good product. I'm sure there are better out there, but not for $79 (that I know of).

I just love this volume knob, the large size and smooth action make it a joy to use. It also looks great! The entire control body is heavy and sits firmly on my desk. Very nice!

This item is perfect... it is a low cost monitoring solution that can't be equaled for less than $500 elsewhere... The Knob is Heavy & action is smooth.... everything about this thing is well made & works perfectly.... My only comment is that although They've made it as heavy as they could, it still moves around on your desk because it's not attached to anything... But it's easy to tape some velcro on the bottom or just glue it to something so it doesn't move around too much,,,,,
