5.0 out of 5 stars WAY beyond my expectations!
I'd watched the videos on TC-Helicon's website before buying this from Amazon, my hope was that it would be half as good as advertised. It's two or three times better than I could have ever imagined!
1. The pre-amp is excellent.
2. The compressor is better than my stand alone unit.
3. The doubling is great, really gives you that professional sounding...

1.0 out of 5 stars SUCKS
If you want to sound like a weird robot, like something out of the Outer Limits when your up on stage, this is the thing for you! I tried all the settings I could on this and none of them improved my voice. I had multiple choices of weird, strange, bizarre effects but that's not what I was looking for. I wanted something that made my voice sound BETTER, not WORSE. Is...

5.0 out of 5 stars WAY beyond my expectations!, December 12, 2010

I'd watched the videos on TC-Helicon's website before buying this from Amazon, my hope was that it would be half as good as advertised. It's two or three times better than I could have ever imagined!
1. The pre-amp is excellent.
2. The compressor is better than my stand alone unit.
3. The doubling is great, really gives you that professional sounding vocals.
4. The harmonies are exceptional, let me repeat, EXCEPTIONAL. I'm not that great a singer, this thing is magic in a box. You do NOT need to use midi for the harmonies, I'd say about 3/4ths of the setting don't require any midi input, don't get me wrong, the midi presets are amazing, you can literally hold a note with your voice, and say hold the C note on the keyboard, and it will bend it as far as you're willing to go up the keyboard!
5. The voice correction, I believe, is making me a better singer. It coaxes you to move your voice to get the harmonies in tune, which is not hard. Yes, you can take it to the extreme and have the "cher" effect.
I don't post reviews often, but this thing is so far beyond my expectations, I had to let others know. You will not regret this purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding sound but big learning curve to get good results, August 11, 2009
This review is from: TC-Helicon VoiceWorks Vocal Effects Processors (Electronics)
The quality of the harmonies the Voiceworks can create is amazing. There is a big learning curve, however. It is important to obtain and study the manual (although the manual falls way short of completeness), as well as doing some serious experimenting to see what works best for you on a given song. There is now a free computer-based software editor available on the TC Helicon site which will help tremendously in setting up and modifying presets. I found the factory presets to have way too heavy fx applied for my taste, perhaps so that people with marginal voices trying it out in the store will be impressed with how much it improves the way they sound. Many of the factory presets are just to demo the wide range of sounds the Voiceworks is capable of producing. If you can sing at all, this unit can help you sound even better. 99 presets, but you have to overwrite the factory settings to save your own modifications. It is important to use the proper harmony mode for a given song. Every setting can be controlled and customized utilizing the software to keep from having to wade through the display menus on the unit, which can be confusing. The optional 3-button footswitch is almost a must-have item for live use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bang For The Buck, July 18, 2008
This review is from: TC-Helicon VoiceWorks Vocal Effects Processors (Electronics)
This device has exceeded my expectations. It has a great mic preamp. The doubling feature is worth the price alone. Fully adjustable and natural sounding pitch correction. Great sounding harmonies. And this device is awesome with the guitar-based harmony control. Accurate harmonies on the fly. The learning curve might be a little higher than some products, but TC is vastly superior to anything I've heard. I'm buying another one for my dad for his birthday.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT but complicated, October 11, 2011

I don't know anything about sheet music. This unit is WAY beyond my understanding of things like C, D, E, F, G major/minor whatever... Long story cut short. This unit is for people who REALLY know what they're doing! I couldn't get anything out of it - not because of IT but because of ME so I had to return it! If you're a PRO and fully understand written music this is likely a GREAT addition to your setup.

The TC Helicon VoiceWorks unit has been one of the best musical gear purchases I've ever made. I was getting really cool sounding harmonies after only playing around with it for a few minutes. I haven't even gotten into the nuts and bolts of it yet and am sure there will be a learning curve required to do the more fancy stuff involving midi. But I am more than impressed so far. I've been using it primarily for a mic preamp to this point. Using one of the harmony presets with the harmony voices turned off gives me a really nice, super clean reverb/delay sound, as well as pitch correction, with no tweaking at all required. Again, I'd have to get into it more to really dial something in, but even that seems pretty straightforward from just the little bit of playing around I've done. To sum it up, this thing is not only a great tool but is really fun to play with as well.

This is a phenomenal piece of gear. It is well suited to the engineer types among us, looking for that perfect tone and character. A learning curve well worth the time. The sound is awesome when properly set-up. Not for the faint of heart or the impatient out there, as a feedback or two shows. Don't stand for any pre-sets, take the time and see what it can really do. Top notch at a great price.TC-Helicon VoiceWorks Vocal Effects Processors

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty neat, June 4, 2010
This review is from: TC-Helicon VoiceWorks Vocal Effects Processors (Electronics)
I can't say I have this beast tamed yet, but when I do, it will be really neat. It will probably help when I put a guitar into it so it can follow changes. Footswitch is a must with a band.
