2 hour tape stock difficult to find.,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: TDK D120 120 Minute Audio Tape (10 pack) (Electronics)
I've searched retail outlets near my home and haven't found 2 hour cassette stock. The quality is good for my use (voice recording). Eventually it will probably be impossible to buy cassette tapes.

Getting hard to find,
This review is from: TDK D120 120 Minute Audio Tape (10 pack) (Electronics)
Thank you for making these extra long cassette tapes available. They're getting harder and harder to find in retail stores. TDK makes a great product, the price was right, and an official United States Government official personally delivered them to my door! What could be better?

This is a great brand of recording tapes. I love the sound quality and the fact that each side records an hour each.

Product is good; shipping costs are ridiculous!,

The product is exactly what we ordered & arrived quickly. However, shipping was insanely expensive. It was 50% of the cost of the item. Next time I'll look elsewhere. That's my reason for giving 3 stars.

TDK makes an excellent cassette tape but there's room for improvement...,

TDK manufactures excellent 120 minute cassette tapes for all purpose general recording. As long as you have the right kind of equipment, these tapes record the sounds of record albums, radio shows, CD-Rs, people talking and more. These tapes have 120 minutes worth of blank recording tapes on them so there are 60 blank minutes for recording on each side. This is useful when recording one hour talk shows, for example.
If you pay the Amazon price of $8.90 for the ten-pack you spend only 89 cents per tape and that's very inexpensive. The tapes allow you hours upon hours of listening enjoyment; and they take up very little room so they're easy to carry around with you. Unfortunately, these tapes cannot produce the same quality recording reproduction as a digitalized copy would give you. This means that if, hypothetically, you were to copy a CD-R onto another CD-R instead of a TDK cassette tape, the quality of the sound on the CD-R copy would be sharper and clearer with less background noise than a TDK cassette tape or any other brand of cassette tape could give you. Moreover, cassette tapes can break if not handled with care. These shortcomings frustrate me and therefore I will have to take off one star to make this a four star review. The tapes have small pieces of plastic on the narrow top of each cassette which you can punch out easily so that accidental recording over an existing recording is impossible. If you do wish to record over an original recording then you can merely place a small amount of regular tape over the hole. The cassette tape is now ready to record a fresh recording. Overall, TDK makes a great choice when you want reliable cassette tapes to record music, the radio, people talking or anything you wish to record. I have used this brand for decades and I cannot think of any major complaints. I highly recommend TDK normal bias 120 minute cassette tapes for you to use when you need to record something onto a tape.

TDK D120 audio cassettes provide two hours of recording time. This is especially useful for those who wish to record radio talk shows for replay at a more convenient time.

A Little Something About Cassettes...,
By J. Miller "Mean Master" (Earth) - See all my reviews
This review is from: TDK D120 120 Minute Audio Tape (10 pack) (Electronics)
Cassettes offer crappy quality of sound and limited durability, both of which are in a best case scenerio. However, cassettes are also an entirely different, interesting, extra opportunity. I'll explain: The cassette tape allows you to be a little more hands on and do it yourself. You can physically cut and paste the tape to edit the old fashioned way--an experience that any audio-recording enthusiast should have (this can also be done with VHS tape and old reel-to-reels).
For Cassette tapes, brand and length dictate all you need with quality. The longer the tape length, the more tape in the case. This means the possibility of more problems when editing, or sometimes even just while playing the tape. As for brands, this one (tdk) and Maxell are reliable. There may be a better brand but not one that is well-known, they do work better than thrift store tapes and off-brands. As for types of tapes(like hi bias, or CD quality)--watch yourself. They may, and should have slight differences that may make it better for certain recordings(ex: hi bias), however, the differences are hardly noticeable, especially with the ever persistent possibilities of background noise, feedback, and tape hiss. My advice: never get one of those "special" types of cassetes--they are just more expensive and pretty much the same, and anyway, if you want purely quality avoid cassettes altogether. |
