5.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD Burner Buy!, May 15, 2004
This review is from: TDK DVD Internal Combo Drive DVD+R with+r DVD-RW/-R8X+/8X- (Model AID+880) (Personal Computers)
Well this was my 1st dvd burner I have bought, I installed it to a Compaq Presario 5420US and it worked without ANY issues! The Roxio software 6 works very well. I know some people are like Nero vs Roxio. Personally I never had issues with Roxio and I would say it is one of the better ones to use. This burner will do as it says and burn in about 8-15 mins. It takes a tad long when doing data cds however. (15-20 mins) Which isnt that bad considering losing 4.5 GB of your data would be sad to lose.. DVD playback works extremly well also.

One MAJOR plus about this unit.. it came to me as RPC1 !!! This unit is able to be RPC1 via firmware, however it seems that Amazon.com ships them out already as RPC1. RPC1 means that you can play any region dvd disc from around the world and not just USA.

I would recommend this unit to anyone who wishes to start out with a great unit that has support and a long line of good feedback for. Hope you enjoy it as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Choice, February 21, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: TDK DVD Internal Combo Drive DVD+R with+r DVD-RW/-R8X+/8X- (Model AID+880) (Personal Computers)
This is the latest and greatest as of 02/2004. Hardware and software works just fine right out of the box even with the cheap Memorex media (DVD-R 4X) some have complained about. It was not necessary to download updates for the burner or the Roxio software. The only setup problem I had was getting the burner to run in DMA mode. The cure for this was in the BIOS setup, I had to turn on the appropriate device for the IDE channel I was installed to. I have only burned 1 DVD so far and it played on my Toshiba SD-3755 (about 3 years old). My computer is a new Dell 8300 with a 2.8G processor, 1G ram, and a 120G hard drive. Dell only ships with a DVD+R burner and DVD+R's will not play on my Toshiba so I bought this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Burner, Super Software, July 27, 2004
This review is from: TDK DVD Internal Combo Drive DVD+R with+r DVD-RW/-R8X+/8X- (Model AID+880) (Personal Computers)
I have had this unit for about 1 month. It was easy to install. The Roxio 6 software is very cool to use especially with CDR and DVD+ or -RW. I own Nero 6 software, which is very efficient but the Roxio is also efficient but a little less comprehensive. Well, now I have a great burner and 2 great software products(that do not conflict with each other). I really like having a choice of burn speed for CD's. TDK has a winner with this unit.
