Upgrade made easy,
By Jennifer (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: TDK Systems INDIDVD 12X MULTI FORMAT-DRV INT ATAPI ( AID+1280BX ) (Personal Computers)
We recently upgraded our drives at work and this was the choice. I am satisfied so far on:
1. installation I had to install the TDK DVD on 3 computers and it took a little over an hour, not each, total time. Windows XP accepted it right away, unlike most windows versions were you have to search for the drive. 2. Software The software that was included with the DVD burner is great. Roxio drag to disc, a lite version of Roxio Pic, and Roxio classic as well as Roxio DVD max player, to view your dvd's. 3. The Look At home , on my personal computer, I am picky about the hardware and the way it looks. The TDK looks sleek (black) and has a nice gloss to the face of it! 4. Durability So far (3 months later) it has worked great. The reason for the minus one star rating is because it is a little loud. It hummms and can be a little annoying for someone with a quiet office. *All in all I would recommend this DVD burner to anyone looking for a nice, durable and excellent priced dvd player/burner!

Overall All Good,

Specs
2 gig Celeron processor 512 megs memory Xp Home Installation took under 10 minutes with taking my older CD-RW drive out and screwing in this new drive. Software installed without a problem and not a peep from Xp. Roxio's software bascially does the same stuff my Nero used to do. For some odd reason I can't set the burning speed above 8x for CDs while the drive is rated at 48x. When set to optimal it ranges from 7x to 32x. My old drive was a 48x and since I can't fit more then 2 optical drives, that defintely irks me. If you're planning on burning lots of CDs, this is not the drive for you, or at least the software for sure. DVD burning is fine at 4x, a full DVD takes around 15 minutes. Haven't had a issue with one yet after about 26 dvd-rs and 50 CD-rs. However, I'm not sure this is the drive issue but I can't seem to copy DVD-Rs with Roxio from my 16x DVD drive to the TDK one. While this drive seems to have some odd idioscracies, it's likely due to the software and not the drive itself. It's fast, reliable and comes from a good company.
