Product Description

TDK WR700 Wireless Headphones Move without the limitations of a cord and still get the high fidelity, stereo sound you expect. Perfect for in-home use with stereo systems as well as mobile devices, simply plug the transmitter into your audio device and sync it with the headphones. Built using Kleer's proprietary lossless, wireless audio technology, the TDK wireless headphones deliver major improvements in sound clarity over other wireless technologies. The original signal, CD quality 16-bit 44 KHz-digital audio, is preserved during transmission resulting in uncompromised stereo sound. Combined with dynamic channel selection, which minimizes "drops", Kleer's technology provides a superior listening experience.

These headphones ROCK! I love the wireless feature, so simple to use, plug in the receiver, turn it on and the headphones and you're in business. A few notes, it does take two AAA batteries for the transmitter and two AAA batteries for headphones. I just ordered a charger and spare batteries, so I'm not bothered by the fact it needs batteries. The receiver will turn itself off after two minutes if no signal so you don't have to worry about leaving it on. Please note that the receiver, while small, would be clunky on iPod, iPhone, or equal. My use is primarily at my desk with the Mac.

Sound Quality--as you know, everyone has opinions and with out some sort of accurate testing equipment it's going to be subjective. My test was to compare against two other headphones. The first was my wife's pair of wired Bose Headphones these were the ~$200 variety, the second was a pair of custom made ear buds that were fitted to my ears with one of the best drivers on the market (~$350), these are used for my motorcycle. So I believe there was some stiff units to compare against. The TDK's were equal in sound quality, including clarity, crispness, bass, and trebble.

Fit and Finish--no complaints TDK did it right! While they look a bit like you're ready for takeoff as a pilot, the feel is great I have had them on for the past three hours and no problems, they are light, easily adjustable, and have volume control on the headphones. My one and only con would be you'd never use these while working out with lots of head movement they would slide off but if tighter fit then they wouldn't be comfortable.

Receiver Distance/Signal--TDK claims about 10 meters and that's about dead on, pretty cool to walk around the adjacent few rooms and have perfect reception.

If I told you all how much money I have wasted on wireless headphones searching for these, it would be embarrassing. I have a very busy wife and daughter who are reading, doing homework, sleeping etc.....which necessitates that I have wireless headphones for tv viewing. I tried Sony and some other Best Buy crap.....they were terrible, I tried wired, inconvenient.....

This product is what I have been looking for. They sound great and dont have the static, background interference, and other problems the other products have. Excellent.

I bought the WR700s about 6 months ago, mainly for my 3yr old so that he could watch movies on our portable dvd player on road trips or flights. We previously let him use corded headphones....which quickly became annoying each time he accidentally pulled out the headphone jack. The WR700s are perfect if you don't have a built in dvd system in your car and don't want the hassle of cords, or annoying Infrared docking stations. The transmitter is small but a little obstrusive. The headphones are super easy to set up. Very adjustable and comfortable. Reliance on batteries is a con, but battery life is good (several movies on one set of batteries).

**These came in very handy when my wife and I went to Italy....walking through the Roman ruins listening together to audio guides that I had dloaded to my phone- I bought a splitter ($3), and plugged us both in, me with regular headphones and then also the WR700 transmitter and she could walk around wirelessly, listening to the same audio guide from my phone. Extremely convenient for listening to something together and still have the freedom to move around independantly!!

For what seems to be no reason occasionally the sound cuts out. It is not the distance which is adequate, but if the volume is too low the transmitter turns off. I may need to return this item.

I have purchased various wireless headphones in the past (Sony, Sennheiser to name a few) and they all ended up in the garbage can, no matter how fancy they looked. All kinds of problems, but the biggest of all was sound quality: it simply was not quite up to the measure. This TDK is different. You hear some noise at the beginning when you make the connection, but as soon as the sound comes out, voila, you have absolutely no background noise or static. They call it the Kleer technology or something. It truly works. To sum up, here are the positives:

1. The sound is as good as wired headphones.
2. Battery lasts long. (Thank god, this is not rechargeable battery that you need to recharge every hour or so! Just put in new Duracell and it will last forever.)
3. Range is as promised.
4. Can turn off both receptor and the headset without physically touching the receptor. (ie you don't have to walk all the way to the audio equipment to which the receptor is hooked.)
5. Automatic turn off after 1 minute of no signal. (However, I wish it had a button to disable this feature since sometimes I want to pause the music for longer than a minute and yet I don't want to walk all the way to the receptor to turn it on again.)

Buy it and enjoy it. I am using this for everything, from my TV set to my unparalleled Astell&Kern AK100 - See my exhaustive review here: Astell&Kern AK100 Mastering Quality Sound (MQS) Portable System

I listen to my AK100 everyday while talking a walk, and I have never realized having no wires could be so liberating.
