Great rack for the price,

This review is from: Power Rack (Misc.)
This is an unbeatable rack at this price point. I have not seen better at this price, but I have seen a few lesser racks.
This rack provides much security when lifting heavy. I have no doubt that if I fail on a lift, those solid 1" steel safety bars will take the weight. I have not been able to find a rating on this rack, but I would be surprised if it couldn't handle 800-1000 pounds. One of the best things with this compared to similar racks is the large variety of add-ons. I have dip bars, olympic weight holders and bar holders. Monster trays, barbell trays, lat attachments, crossover attachments, plate trees, monster hooks and additional chinup bars are available. I have two gripes with this rack. One is that it is light. This allows for easy movement when racking weights. I solved that by using the plate holders for my 45# plates. Not only does it stay put better, it has less sway at the top of the rack. You could also bolt it to the floor. The other issue is the small washers provided for assembly. They are only a little wider than the heads of the provided bolts. If you tighten them enough, you will bend the metal. Had I known that, I would have spent a buck at my local hardware store for bigger washers to disperse the force better. All-in-all, this is a great rack and will serve me well for many years. Only a true powerlifter would outgrow this rack.

A Power Rack that is great for the home.,
By
This review is from: Power Rack (Misc.)
I bought this rack about a year ago directly from New York Barbells because they were having a sale at the time. It was fairly easy to put together and it comes with a free lifetime warranty card. It is sturdy and as compact as you could expect it to be. My main complaint with the Rack is with it's chin up bar. The knurled grips on the bar were sharp on my hands and it ripped through my calloused hands really fast. A problem I was able to solve by covering the bar with tennis racket grip tape.
Another thing about this power rack is that it is relatively light. This attribute is great when you need to move it around but it needs to be weighed down if you are doing pull ups or loading a heavy bar on the front of the rack.

Great Power Rack for the Money!,

Great rack for the money. Great for any novice lifter looking to begin weightlifting. I suggest buyers of this Power Rack get a copy of the book Starting Strength also.
