Do this before you use. This product will need to be washed with mild detergent and rinsed thoroughly then set the oven at 350 degrees. Place the cups upside down on the oven rack and bake for 20 minutes. This will help them from staining and get rid of that silicone smell out. Also when baking with these use vegetable oil to coat the inside for easy removal. I use a regular brush to coat the oil...Spray one will stain these. Note: this procedure is done with all silicone Items.
I love this product. I made Blueberry Muffins w/Streusel in them and decided I needed more than 12, so I ordered 4 more. Mine did not stain at all.

I don't see paying $17 for four cupcake molds a good value when the only reason I paid so much for these (I bought 3 boxes, stupidly) was for their aesthetic value. I can't give them any more than one star (I'd give zero, if I could) because I didn't buy these to be silicone cupcake molds, I bought them to be pretty white porcelain-like tea-cup cupcake molds. If I wanted purely functional silicone cupcake molds, I would have bought those ... and paid much less for them.

The instructions indicate clearly that using a spray-on oil to oil the cups will cause discoloration, but nowhere is it said that baking cupcakes ONE TIME will ruin the cups with permanent stains. After ONE USE, each and every one of my cups was stained anywhere the cake batter was thin enough to over-cook slightly (such as at the edges of the cupcakes or where one or two drops of batter were left on the edge or outside of the cups.

Naturally, the cups will still work as cupcake molds, but why the he11 would I pay so much money for a mold that is marketed as a porcelain-look-alike product that stains the first time it is used? I certainly could have been more fastidious in my placement of the cake batter, but I wasn't particularly careless and I was under the impression that I would have been warned (by the box) if there were a problem (e.g. such as was the case with the spray-on oil).

This is particularly disappointing to me because my daughter is about to turn one and I thought these would make super cute cake molds for her 1st birthday ... so, what I paid a whole lot of money for was only dashed hopes for a cute party idea.

------

I have noticed that a more recent review gives a complicated pre-use treatment plan for avoiding stains.

Super cute ... when pulled from the box. However, if you get even the smallest drop of batter on the outside of the cup, it will stain the cup irreversibly. I got these for my daughter's birthday and was embarrassed to put them out because they were so dirty looking. For how incredibly expensive these are, I would expect something that would last a lot longer. I don't even feel like using these around the house for family only. Complete waste of money ... especially since I bought 3 sets. Lesson learned! (I'd give this zero stars, if possible).

I ordered only one of these when they were only $12.79 to try it out. In the meantime I tried it out and was going to order two more but the price went up almost $5.00 each, thus I did not order more. I baked muffins in it this morning and it stains being white. You are supposed to be able to serve the baked goods out of the teacup. The muffins come out easily but I could not get anything to take the stains off, washing them did nothing. I was very disappointed as I have ladies over for tea and thought it was a great tool. I would have rated the product a five star rather than a three star because of that.

I actually bought this from another website, for more money. However, I adore these cupcake molds. They're so cute! Only 4 in a pack, which is a little unfortunate.

A bit of a gadget, too small to be used constantly. Good for a bit of fun...

Because of past reviews, I will bake cupcakes in paper liners then drop them in the silicone tea cup molds before I frost them as another reviewer suggested. These are too expensive to risk ruining a presentation for an event.

These are absolutely darling! Mine have held up through multiple uses and still look like did when they first came out of the box. Just be sure to wash thoroughly before first use and avoid non-stick sprays - use oil or shortening to coat before filling and baking. I use shortening and haven't had any problems with cupcakes sticking or the molds staining. I LOVE these. Cutest cupcake molds ever!
