I bought this starter to replace one that failed after 9 years on my Ariens snowblower. The starter was an exact fit and installed easily. It works perfectly.

Got the starter installed, plugged it in, pressed the starter button, and it stuck in the on position. Decided it would be easier to use the cord, then to return.
Was surprised to see it was an import item.

Tecumseh Starter needs alteration,

On my 8 year old Craftsman two-stage snowblower which has had multiple failures, the electric starter was a Tecumseh made in USA. It went out. Ordered one at far less than what Sears would have charged from Amazon.com and DB Electrical sent it very promptly. Tried for over an hour to install and seat the new Tecumseh starter. It WOULD NOT SEAT!! Finally I measured the old one (made in USA) against the new one (made in Taiwan) and discovered the upper brackets of the new one were 4mm too small. Opening on the new one measured 7 mm and the old one measured 11 mm. So had to drill them out. It seated immediately. After installing, I decided I needed to try it. The starter did not work. It was defective. Called DB Electrical immediately and they shipped another one the next day. Upon receiving it, I drilled out the upper brackets and it seated correctly. The whole job was completed in less than 5 mintues. Tried it out and the second new starter worked just fine. Several days later it snowed, and the starter worked just fine. TIP: if you buy one, try out the starter in a GFCI outlet and if it doesn't work or blows the circuit, then it is bad.
