Opal Pollard is a free 19 year old African American living in Last Chance, California, in 1860. Opal is engaged to Willie, but her sister introduces her to Gabrielle Fortune, who is dashing and exciting. Then, the son of Opal's former owner comes to town, seacrching for Opal's sister, a fugitive slave. Can Opal save her sister?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Variety of Characters; Interesting Series, March 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: TEMPESTUOUS: OPAL'S STORY - BRIDES OF WILDCAT COUNTY #5 (Brides of Wildcat County) (Paperback)
The plot was fascinating, kind of like the picture brides of the past. Fierce women are shipped to a town, believing it's a large city, only to find it be be out in the middle of nowhere. Females will love these romances, adults may also. Very graphic at times, but nothing raunchy.

I'm glad the author threw in a book on a colored female, I loved the variety of the snotty sisters, the evil dark haired woman, and the silly blonde. Kind of stereotypical, but very enjoyable.

I only disliked the title of this series, BRIDES OF WILDCAT COUNTY wasn't a nice one to carry around.
