I found this book to be a good instruction manual and it helped my game considerably. I agree with GBean that there is a bit of pontificating and verbiage, but I find most tennis players can't live without doing that anyway. Also while covering all other strokes, there doesn't seem to be anything about how to actually hit a lob. I guess he figured most of us would just figure out how to open the face of the racquet. Otherwise, very detailed and clear instruction about how to do and or improve each ground stroke, serve or volley. Also details all varieties of each stroke and ways to learn or develop expertise in each stroke. There is some controversy about using a two-handed forehand. I have found it a useful teaching tool and as a method to improve the technique of my one-handed forehand. He also provides an excellent section on tennis strategy and tactics especially for the 3.5 to 4.0 level of player. It might have been helpful to give more counters to these strategies such as a 5.0 or 6.0 player might use. I recommend this book for 3.5 to 4.0 players.

Too much verbiage, repetitive, redundant. You have to wade through a lot of his opinion and pontificating to get to the main point and by then you've lost interest in the subject matter. The author doesn't inspire enthusiasm or love for the game.
