Best Crib Ever!! Not on your life!, May 12, 2009
This review is from: TENT SALE - Quick Change Crib - Swan White (Baby Product)
This crib is so worth it! The pictures do not do this crib justice. I get a lot of compliments on the look. It is fabulous!
I did a lot of research to buy the best quality bed at the best possible price. At first I wasn't sure if changing the sheets was that big of a deal until now! I relied on good construction, solid birch wood, the JPMA certification and great reviews and awards to sell me. I was looking for a traditional looking crib with a drop-down side (very rare nowadays) and optional wheels. The crib was so heavy that the UPS/FedEx man refused to carry it any further than our entryway! So, we put it together in the hall and rolled it to the nursery! (You can also carry the 5 pieces up the stairs, if needed.) The crib is incredibly easy to assemble and the caster wheels are smooth.
I didn't appreciate the convenience of the crib until I separated my twins at 6 months and began using another crib that my neighbor gave me. It is a very expensive Land of Nod sleigh crib but does not even come close in quality or convenience! I had to buy a cheap thin crib bumper for it so that I could wiggle the mattress to change the sheets without taking off the bumper. What a hassle and a lot of back breaking work! It's a real pain and doesn't look nearly as nice as my Quick Change crib that has a Pottery Barn bumper on it!
We decided to buy the recommended mattress for the bed even though it was pricey and the Baberoo sheets. It was a great decision! The sheets are so comfy and soft and the mattress very well supported. It has 2 sides to it - firm and extra firm.
For more information on the crib, mattress and sheets, go to their website. Also, their customer service has been excellent! I was even able to talk to the owner/creator of the crib!
UPDATE: After 2 years of owning this crib, the drop down side has broken 3 times and the company ran out of replacement parts. (My son shakes the crib which breaks the plastic drop down parts.) It has become a nightmare in working with them towards a resolution. When they ran out of parts, they were unwilling to help any longer even though the crib clearly has safety issues. I contacted the BBB and CPSC (Consumer Protection) and they have investigated the issue. I went as far as calling my local TV station; however, I did not want to appear on TV so I'm not sure if they pursued this. The company no longer makes drop down side cribs but buyer beware! You may find yourself in the same situation on other safety issues. The company appears to be unconcerned about safety as well as JPMG even though they certify cribs! (I called them too but they did not want to be involved.) Now, I received an "agreement" from the crib company to refund me the entire cost of the crib if I discard it immediately, agree to release them from any wrongdoing and forfeit any legal action against them. Hmmm...makes me wonder what else I am unaware of with this crib.
