You can connect to camera without using PC You can use motion detection to trigger video recording to microSD card which is good enough.

This would be fine if you wanted a camera wired via Ethernet. It would not connect to wireless via WEP. After looking at the support forums, whether or not it will connect with WEP or WPA is a crapshoot. The one I got would connect over WPA but I have to stick to WEP for other things to connect. The first thing support tells you to do is not use 802.11n because it won't handle it even though it's advertized as n-compatible. As to all the 5 Star reviews, there is a card in each box offering a $25 rebate for a 5 Star review on Amazon. Amazon needs to end that sort of practice. You can't believe a bunch of 2-line 5 Star reviews. Returned mine and will look for another similar camera from another manufacturer.

First purchase review, but had to say this. I buy 2-3 items a week off Amazon and have never felt so compelled to say something.

In short: This IP cam is near worthless, I will return.

Long version, read on.

1) Instructions are poorly translated, photos in the manual are clear but mean nothing because they don't match the actual flow compared to the program they tell you to download.
2) Operating program is worthless. If you follow the instructions and look at the Apple Store, the manufacturer has a couple programs. Both function in some way but they don't look like the screenshots in the booklet and can't find my wifi signal, or any for that matter, of the 20+ signals I see scattered throughout my neighborhood that can be detected on my iPad, PC's, and wireless printers with ease.
3) Program downloaded directly from the website, also recommended in the manual, still looks nothing like the manual photos and works worse than the Apple Store options.
4) Any company that includes a card in the package stating they will pay a rebate of $25 to anyone who gives them a 5 star Amazon review should be avoided. If the product and/or service was worthy of this they wouldn't need to pay people who purchased the product to say so.
I will be contacting Amazon to recommend they remove this vendor from their marketplace. Amazon has said they are committed to providing reputable vendors. Product performance aside, any company that would make a direct attempt to pay buyers for 5 star ratings is corrupt and has no place in a civilized retail environment like Amazon.

This camera is an excellent buy, especially with the $25 rebate you get if you are happy with it and write a 5 star review. I can see where this incentive could lead to an unusually high number of 5 star reviews, but I would have given this a 4 1/2 to 5 star review anyway. The camera was very easy to setup (and I've struggled with home security DVRs and port forwarding before so this was a relief). I did have a problem getting the DDNS working, but the help desk was patient and after about a week, we got it working. The problems were both on my end and their end. But it has been working for a month or so now and is a nice supplement to my other non-pan, non-tilt cameras. Just be aware that if you are using it wirelessly that the distance affects how fast you can view the image (on your iphone for example). I have mine about 20 feet away and through one wall, so I can only get the middle resolution setting to work reliably, but that is perfectly fine for a small phone screen. Also, this has a built in microphone and I can listen to it on my phone which none of the security DVR's I've researched can do.

What an expensive piece of crap, and that's putting it lightly! I receive the device, supposedly new in box from GyroTek (seller). First thing I notice, is a little card that dumps out of the box from Tenvis, saying they will pay you $25 to leave them a 5-star rating on Amazon. Wow!

Tenvis, I'll tell you what. Rather than take your $25, I will save others $25 (and more) by leaving this honest review of what I received. I am not one to be bought.

Unboxing, the camera looks as expected. I plug it in, and emits a high-pitched, super quiet hissing noise. The camera runs through it's perimeter check, turning in all different directions, and as it's doing so, it makes a couple clicks. Upon loading the cam page in Google Chrome, the page comes up, but no video feed. I am prompted to download plugin.exe from Shenzen. I do so, and install it. Installation failed at registering DLL/OCX TVSWebClientPlayBack.ocx, exit code 0x3. It fails even in IE and Firefox. So I try to install the redistributable Visual C++ package for x64. No dice.

My patience has been tested, and I'm over this Tenvis garbage. It's going back for a full refund.

Everything in the negative reviews is true, and the positive reviews are nonsense. The picture quality is terrible and the wireless connection is flaky. I am returning this.

It is BS that the seller paid for 5-star reviews. The seller should be banned from amazon.

The camera works great for the most part but has a trigger issue in a dark room it tends to every couple minutes or so click a couple times Very noticeable. Its range is fairly well mine are set about 70 feet from the router. If you are looking for color images it seems to only work well in very bright locations I need to focus closely near a light source before we get a color image. I myself do not need it to be color as just for security but it would have been better had I known before hand. This is a new camera so they are working out the bugs with firmware updates but the camera could do better had they worked out the bugs before releasing it to us in the real worls.
