5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended., December 8, 2006
This review is from: TERRA FIRMA (Paperback)
The second place winner for the CNW/FFWA Award for Fiction in 2003, Terra Firma is a novel about the suffering of pre-World War Italian and Hungarian families that pushed them to emigrate to America, and the reconciliation of an American daughter with the past of her proud ancestors. The debut novel of Clara Orban (professor of French and Italian at DePaul University, Chicago), Terra Firma is a rich interconnection between Old World Europe and the hectic modern day, and also a contemplation of the searches for independence, meaning, roots and balance in life both then and now. Highly recommended.
