I have yet to find something bad to say about this sleeping bag. I am 6' and 225# and slip into and out of this bag with ease. I can move and stretch in a warm and cozy environment. This bag is big, I mean really big. But that's ok, so am I at 6'1" and 250 pounds. It should be big enough for a seven foot tall 500 pound linebacker or two average people and their dog. I'll have plenty of stretch room. I have three issues with this sleeping bag. First, the cotton liner is attached only at the zipper and the foot. While using it, this liner is loose...

5.0 out of 5 stars Warmth for the Masses, March 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Got two of these sleeping bags for myself and my grandson, Nolan, to use when his dad and his other cool grampa decided to take him on a 13th birthday hike he wouldn't forget. The four of us snowshoed and skiied through a five-foot base of powder snow to an altitute of about 10,000 feet on Colorado's Grand Mesa. Aided by Nolan's mixed breed mountain dog, Templeton, best dog in the world, we built a snow cave, outside dimensions about 16x12 feet, oval shaped, with an inside dome about 4-feet high in the center and hollowed out sleeping "rooms." After climbing a nearby summit, we returned and rolled out these sleeping bags over a "mattress" of pine boughs and thin, inexpensive ensolite pads. Outside overnight, the temperature plunged to about ten below zero, but inside the snow cave it stayed at just about the freezing mark of 32-degrees F. I was actually skeptical when I bought these bags. As as an Adirondack Winter 46er I've spent many uncomfortable nights in tents on the sides of mountains where the mercury has plunged as low as minus-42 F. Even in a very expensive goosedown bag rated to minus-30, staying comfortable is difficult in any sub-zero situation. For the money, I would rank this bag alongside almost any of the "name brands" that you would pay hundreds of dollars for. Sure it's bulkier and heavier. But you would have to go a long way to find a more fairly priced bag that will keep you warm in a snow cave down to the freezing mark. You wouldn't take it on an Everest or Denali expedition, for sure. But if you want to find out what winter camping is all about without investing a ton of money in a sleeping bag, this is the way to go. ALL winter bags are over-rate when it comes to staying warm on really, really butt-cold nights. But for the money, this bag can hardly be beat. Ideal for single-night outings on winter evenings when the bottom doesn't fall completely out of the thermometer.... I also give Amazon five stars for this particular purchase. I ordered two of the bags and had them delivered to Colorado so I wouldn't have to haul a ton of gear from NY State for just a night or two of camping. When UPS delivered one of the bags to the wrong address (a mistake discovered later), Amazon immediately shipped a replacement overnight to make up for UPS's errant delivery. The entire experience left me with a warm feeling - even in a snow cave on a sub-zero mountainside.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the Bag, June 13, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you are one of those people that gets cold when camping or you are tired of cheaply made or thin silky bags, this is the bag you are looking for. This bag is massive, good for a big 6'2" fella like myself. The quality of the construction is top notch, very durable. The inside of this bag is warm cotton fiber, not silky. The mummy top has 2 drawstrings that can zip you up lke a turtle in harsh conditions but you can still have a world class game of footsie down at the bottom; it has a spacious 3.5" of width. Even the stuff sack has clips, drawstrings, and looks waterproof! The velcro closure by the zipper has a big "0 Degree" embroidered into it. A very no-nonsense product for people that love to go camping but need quality gear that is going to keep them warm and comfortable on those fall fishing trips in the mountains. It has some real weight to it so if you are a backpacker you'd want to go with something else. For car camping, camping in the snow, and for situations where warm and comfort is a necessity this bag scores very high. Phenomenal price, incredible product.

When I purchased this bag, it was touted at a zero degree Fahrenheit bag (even though it's got Celsius in the name, I should have paid more attention), now I see the description has been changed to "zero degrees Celsius" on some versions of the bag but not others. I really didn't think much about it until this weekend's camping trip where the temperatures dropped down to 17 degrees F and realized the bag is inadequate under those conditions. I spent a couple of very cold nights.

I've got to say that for late spring, summer and early fall camping, this is a very comfortable, roomy bag and I like it a lot. Just realize that it is not for real cold weather, I wouldn't hesitate taking it down to about 30 degrees F, but not much below that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really-BIG-Sleeping Bag!, January 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
...I am in my mid-60's and still love to camp, but due to a replacement-hip and several damaged disks in my spine, sleeping on the ground in a tent is no longer a comfortable option for me, so for the last decade I have slept in my Dodge-Minivan on a regular mattress...But this has worn out, so I decided to upgrade...

...I wanted a cot, but didnt like the small, creaky, uncomfortable cots carried in most stores, so went online and found a GInormous one that had good reviews, and the manufacturer also made a sleeping-bag in the same size...40 x 85..

...I bought both, and coupled them with a 2" memory-foam pad which I sandwiched between the bag and cot with an old quilt, holding that combo in place with light elastic cords....

..I am just sorry i did not do this years earlier!..This bag is HUGE!!!...It is very comfortable, with two-drawstring closures around the top to keep out drafts, very nice large padded batting along the zipper so you never make contact with the zipper while inside the bag, which also insulates that area well....

...It has two nylon loops on the bottom for tying down to a cot to keep the bag in place, which is a nice feature...and overall the craftsmanship looks solid and of good-quality materials...I have had expensive down and synthetic bags in the past, and this bag compares nicely with them at a modest price making it good-value for your bucks!

...I have not tested it to 0 degrees, but I can say that at 40 degrees I had to open the zip and hang my arms out for a long time as it was Very warm inside, so I am extremely happy and satisfied with this bag so far!...Obviously, only repeated use and time will tell how well it holds up and performs in the long run, but seriously, at this price, if it only lasted a few years it would have been well worth the reasonable price...

...This bag also comes with a very sturdy and well-made stuff-sack that has multiple compression straps to shrink it quite small...but it is fairly heavy...so I doubt this would be a good bag for back-packing...but I seriously doubt it was designed for that purpose in the first place...and if you are vehicle or tent camping, the weight is hardly a factor...

...My only complaint is minor, as you get a choice of left or right-hand zipper, and this bag can be joined to another, which would create a combined bag the size of a king-sized bed!..JEEZ!....I chose the left-hand zip, but when it arrived..the zip was on the right-side as I laid in it, but was still labeled left-hand zip..So I found this a bit confusing, as I guess if you were standing at the foot of the bag the zip would BE on the left....but once in it...it is on the right-side of the bag?

...Perhaps this is a normal way of designating sides, but should be considered when you place an order...

...Aside from that, I am Very pleased with this product, and would gladly recommend it and the manufacturer at any time!...The bag arrived well-packed and boxed, and in a short time after I placed the order....and I cant wait to go out and do some serious camping with it!

5.0 out of 5 stars its big and its warm, June 23, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
every year we do a float trip in may. evening temps drop to the 40's and 50's. after several purchases of small, lightweight bags and then freezing all night, i decided to try another sleeping bag. this one is not what i would call a backpackers sleeping bag. too big for that. in fact, i could not find a dry bag big enough to put the sleeping bag into while on the canoe. walmart had some big waterproof zipper bag that worked fine, though.

this bag is roomy and warm. i'm 6'4" and it was perfect. i'm going to buy another for my wife, who isn't 6'4" but she likes to be real warm at night. its not the heaviest of sleeping bags that i have, but it's by far the warmest and most roomy.

This review is from: TETON Sports Celsius XXL -18 Degree C / 0 Degree F Flannel Lined Sleeping Bag (90"x 39") (Sports)
Just took this bag on it's maiden voyage to Yosemite. It was plenty big enough for my 6' tall husband. He really loved all the room he had in it. There was even room in it for our 6 year old daughter to cozy up with him one cold morning! I can't testify as to the 0 degrees aspect, but it stayed nice and warm inside as the temps dipped to the high 30's. My husband had no issues getting it folded back up and into the stuff sack that it came in. The sack by the way is also well constructed and of good quality, unlike the ones that came with my own and our daughter's new bags. If you're looking for a well made, roomy and warm bag, this is it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Torn, May 20, 2008
This bag is big make no mistake. I recently bought a bunch of new equipment for hiking and one of the areas I decided I could save a buck was on the sleeping bag. I was however well aware that I still needed quality for the cheap price. I found this bag that seemed to fit the bill.

This bag is big and as a hiker that means weight. But as the title of my review says I'm torn. I'm torn between getting a lighter mummy style bag or keeping this one. It's no easy task. You see the Teton XL is a big, spacious, comfortable and warm bag. The neck and hood have draw strings which make it very effective at keeping cold out and heat in. I experienced this recently when on a hike. A cold whether front came in and it began to rain we had to hunker down real quick. While my bag kept me warm my brother suffered in his.

It comes with a stuff sack which may not match up to the bag in quality. The draw string lock broke on the very first use for me. But it has two cross catches as back up and thus far the sack has held together.

I'll give the Teton another shot on a one week hike. The truth is though at this point I don't see any reason (other than weight) that I should trade this bag in. Getting a good nights sleep/recovery can't be underestimated on the trail and this provides that without fault.
