im an engineering major and this calculator is great it does so much more than the TI-84 i had before it. it made it easier to do the 6 math classes i needed for my degree.

Function is incredible. Its hard to find yourself in a position where you are doing math this calculator can't handle. only problem is, its a pain to use (as a mechanical engineering student who's familiar with MATLAB). I would not recommend it for anyone below calculus obviously, and I would say that the calculator is best used when you have access to Google to find the input format for most of its functions. Which are a numerous. HUGE.
RECAP:
Pros: Great product, well-made (heavy and thick), great button layout (its different than the TI-83/84, a little confusing to learn but its really useful), functionality is UNREAL, calculator outputs in radicals and variables, oh and did I say that theres a UI THAT HAS A HOME SCREEN AND APPS!
Cons: Takes more time than you want to put into learning how to use your calculator and performs a little slow for graphing basic functions

My science and math minded daughter used a loner TI-89 all through her senior year of High School and, after being accepted at a very good engineering collage, asked for one of her own as a graduation gift. My daughter could have asked for another model or brand, but she did research and was set on getting the TI-89. This was most useful for use in her AP Calculus and Physics classes so she checked and found that this would also be among the preferred model in her college classes.

This is a seriously complicated device with a large learning curve and is likely more calculator than most people will ever need, but for those that do need these functions this is likely the right choice. I have only used it once or twice out of desperation and was able to navigate the basic functions.

Highly Recommended!
