I bought this to prepare for the state teacher test. While I am already a certified teacher, I have neither taken nor taught science, history or math since I was in high school over twenty years ago. I simply crammed for an hour or so a night for about three weeks with this manual. I just got my results back and found I passed the test with a score of 270. This book is definately worth the money I paid for it. Do not bother to buy the manual from the TEXES site. It is just a sample test. This book gives you explanations and real material to study.

This book does not prepare you for the TExES test at all!!! There are so many grammatical errors in this book, you cannot understand what you are being told. The test questions are less than helpful. They are not in TExES style format, and they don't question what has been taught in the book. DO NOT BUY THIS! SAVE YOUR MONEY!

This book does list the competencies and skills to be tested, but you can download those from the internet for free. The "sample tests" are NOT a reflection of the actual test, and are littered with MAJOR errors. The author does not seem to have knowledge of the test questions and did not take time to proofread her information, test questions, test responses, or explanations for her answers. I couldn't make sense of the sample tests, because the author omitted questions, had test questions different from the test answer explanations, included ridiculous test questions not related to the TExEs...what a mess and a waste of time!

This book seems to have been hastily thrown together to capitalize on the test taker's need for information, but it offers little but the opportunity to lug around an over-sized book.

I'd be embarrassed to put my name on this shameful excuse for a test preparation manual.

This has to be the worst preparation guide I have ever read. I should have listened to the other reviewers before wasting money on this book. Avoid it and find something else. The problems with this book are:

-NUMEROUS errors in the practice test and in the content. How would you like to have a study guide tell you something that is incorrect?
-MANY grammar mistakes throughout the book make it a very distracting read.
-The content is rarely very relevant. After reading the English/Language arts portion of the book, I found it covered maybe 1/4 of the topics that are really being tested. Further, there is significant content that is either EC-4 or 9-12 level material that is completely irrelevant to the 4-8 Generalist that the book is supposed to prepare the reader for.

DON'T buy this. Look elsewhere. I'm out 60 bucks and have to find another book that actually has relevant (and correct) content.

The content of the book seems helpful, I'll know for certain when I take my state exam. But the book has quite a few errors in. I found the math errors. I just hope there aren't errors in other sections that I accepted as facts.

The study guide was helpful for Science, Social Studies, and ELA. I t was not helpful for Math-which I ordered it for. The sample math test was too easy compared to the real exam. Also it didn't give examples that matched the state's practice exam. There were many grammatical errors in the book. Also sample questions were often taken from domains that the book did not provide examples for.

This book had too many mistakes in answers to be used as a testing review book. I did not use it for my review for TExES.

This book started out being helpful, but there are way to many errors throughout the book to know if you have actually answered correctly or incorrectly!!! Do not spend the money or the time on this book.

The book I purchased was received in five days. I didn't expect such promptness. Thanks!
