This review is from: TExES Generalist EC-4 101 Teacher Certification Test Prep Study Guide (XAM TEXES) (Paperback)
Although this book may be very helpful as far as summarizing everything you need to know between Kindergarten-6th grade...the practice tests aren't very accurate. Not only are there grammatical errors in this book, but some practice test questions/answers don't match up at all. So in my opinion, it's subpar.

This review is from: TExES Generalist EC-4 101 Teacher Certification Test Prep Study Guide (XAM TEXES) (Paperback)
This book has a lot of information in all the domains and skills to be tested on the TEXES exam. However, it only has one practice test. In my opinion one of the things that actually helps you feel better prepared to take an exam is knowing that you can actually take the exam and do good in the exam. And it is my believe that you can only get this feeling if you actually take a bunch of practice tests that are very similar to the actual test, and you get a good score on those. Otherwise, how do you actually know you have absorbed and retained all the information you are studying? How do you know you are ready to pour out all the nice information presented in this book on the time frame allotted for the test?
Coming from a country in which these type of test do not even exist, and therefore, there is not preparation whatsoever to face a 5 hour test; and having to take the TOEFL, CLEP, SAT and a bunch of other test, I noticed that the study guides that made me feel more prepared were the ones that provided useful tips, information, and a lot of practice tests.
