More About the Author

Born in Iowa, I grew up reading the Nancy Drew Mysteries. As a teen I did a rough draft of a short story but it wasn't until a few years ago that I finally took my time to sit down and re-write it, and then had it published as an e-short story called Old Jacob. I now have several short stories and two books. These stories were written with my grandchildren in mind and are based on some adventures from my childhood. I have also written three short stories for adults, "Dying to Write", "Death by Love" and "The Rabbit's Foot". All my books and short stories are also available on Barnes&Noble and Smashwords.

Remember back when you were younger and just being able to ride your bike off of the block was a thrill? Remember the wide-eyed curiosity and your thirst for adventure? If so, you'll love this compilation. Perfect for campfire stories or simply to bring you back to a time of pure innocence if only for a short while. I loved 'The Old School' the best...as it brought back memories of my friends and I exploring something similar (along with a little of the fear that we felt)! Love the title as well.

After having read one of the authors short stories I was hooked on Hailey and Jared, so this collection was just what I was looking for. All of the stories made me nostalgic for my childhood when everything was an adventure and you could let your imagination go wild. I love the way the author writes. She tantilizes all of your senses even sense of smell. Great fun for any age!

I have enjoyed each one of these stories. They are clever and suspenseful and really pull you into the action! They are fun for kids and adults alike. Each story has a surprise ending that will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat!
So if you like mystery and spookiness, you won't be disappointed!

so this morning i sat down with a cup of tea, tetley of course and read this book. possibly the best thing i will do today because much like the previous stories i have read from this author it was brilliant.
im pretty sure that it is a hard thing for most people to be able to remember what it was like to be young and how young people see the world around them. in different ways Stephen King managed it with Stand by me much as the perspective appears on cartoons like Rugrats. it is a different perspective from what we know as adults. What this author has done is bridge the gap between adult and child in a way that would keep the attention of both age groups in a fun and charming sort of way.
work of genius, at the end of it all i can say is that i am glad to have read it

This was a brilliant collection of six short stories. These are primarily children's stories but as an adult, at least according to age standards, I enjoyed them myself! They have a way of taking you back to your own days of youth when summers were spent looking for adventure around every corner, weekends and after school hours were for friends and fun, and life was a lot simpler. These stories are great little reads that remind you what it's like to have fun being a bit spooked. If you have children, these stories are spooky enough to give them that little fright they like, but not so spooky they will have to sleep in your bed for weeks on end! I would recommend them for all ages. Wonderful stories!

#1 Old Jacob: This is a fun short story that tells the tale of Hailey, Jared, an old mine, and some spooky don't-look-behind-you moments. The author puts a unique spin on a tale of legend and ghosts that will make a great campfire story for years to come. This is just one great story for kids of all ages, a very enjoyable tale.

#2 The Old School: This story takes place in the middle of summer during school break. The kids decide to check out an old school house and find a cellar door with a broken padlock. After hearing a story about the cellar from Jared's older brother, they go on a little adventure. You'll have to read the story to find out what happens though! Cute story and a perfect tale for the young and young at heart that enjoy good old fashioned short ghost stories. Short and sweet with a completely satisfying delivery!

#3 Old Injun Joe: This is a fun, spooky, wonderful short story for readers of all ages. The story flows perfectly from beginning to end and you can't wait to find out what is about to happen!

Hailey and her best friend Jared go on six spooky adventures with unexpected endings. Although written for the middle grade audience there is fun for all ages. Short enough to be read at bedtime or as a story to be told late at night or around a campfire. I really enjoyed reading this wonderful collection.
