Book Description

Just nominated for Global eBook of the Year - Someone had to write it…and that’s why we did. THE Book on . . . Business from A to Z; The 260 Most Important Answers You Need to Know is the result of trying to constantly answer clients’ questions across a vast range of business topics. After frequent discussions about some of our most challenging engagements, the coauthors
realized that we had one thing in common: Clients who were regularly asking questions about many areas beyond our individual areas of expertise. We did our individual best to answer them and/or put the clients in touch with other experts who
could.
However, we wanted to be able to go beyond this and to provide an ongoing resource for those questions that arise when we are not in front of our clients. We wanted to make a lasting resource for our past, present and future clients. The result
is THE Book on . . . Business from A to Z; The 260 Most Important Answers You Need to Know. This book covers 26 of the most important business topics in the world today. Although each chapter is worthy of a complete book of its own, we have condensed each down to the 10 most frequently asked questions and their answers.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

"I feel this book is an essential part of any new manager's or existing business leader's library. For the new manager, you will find the answers to basically any challenge you will face. For the existing leader, the book will serve as a great best practice manual for your continued reference. Frank Hathaway; Supply Chain Excellence at Bayer HealthCare-Biotech & Past President of CSCMP.

"Business is demanding. This book sits on my desk within arms-reach so that I can refer back to it as new challenges arise. In fact, it is required reading for my entire management team because it really does contain the answers from A - Z." David Fisher; Founder & President of the Southern California Manufacturing Group

"Some of the best advice a businessperson could get from some of the best consultants in the business. The format of the book is ten times better than most, allowing for easy search and discovery." Morley Winograd; Senior Fellow at USC's Annenberg Schools Center for Communication Leadership and Policy

"This book is a great resource and is recommended reading for all entrepreneurs. It provides excellent information and advice for the entrepreneur covering a broad breadth of topics including capital markets." John K. Paglia; Ph.D., CFA, CPA; Denney Academic Chair; Associate Professor of Finance; Senior Researcher, Pepperdine Private Capital Markets Project; Graziadio School of Business and Management; Pepperdine University

"The information provided in this book is easy to read and understand. THE Book on...BUSINESS From A to Z contains valuable answers to questions many small business owners ask. This is one book that should be kept on hand at every business and chamber of commerce, and a must-have for any "How to Start a Business" training session." Roy M. Perez; Chairman of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce

"Finally! An easy-to-read guide on 26 important business topics, giving readers access to experts to answer key questions to help grow a business from A to Z. The information is highly practical and gets to the essential questions that businesses have to deal with on a daily basis. This book should be part of the library of any business owner and strategic thinker who is looking to develop or grow a business." Neelima Firth; Board Member, Association for Strategic Planning

"I must confess that I am generally not a big fan of compilations when it comes to business literature. However, "THE Book of Business...From A to Z" might change that preconceived opinion.

The authors have compiled series of interesting material related to various issues and situations that business owners and managers experience in their "corporate life". The contributing authors have achieved the successful marriage of practical relevance and theoretical accuracy in the book, allowing the reader to leave with substantial take-away rooted in 26 business topics.

The book goes beyond classic, oft-vague principles and "recipes" to offer real substance in managerial disciplines and topics as varied as: Accounting, finance, risk-management, innovation, networking, quality, business turnaround, business valuation, and "Z score". The reader can use the book as a first-diagnosis and orientation tool, but also as a source for more specialized knowledge. It answers classic questions and helps to frame more complex issues.

For business owners, managers, and everyone interested in management and business, this book is definitively an excellent resource." Daniel Degravel, PhD.; Association of Strategic Planning, Los Angeles Chapter Board Member, Assistant Professor at California State University, Northridge, College of Business & Economics, Department of Management; Consultant in Management, strategic management

"As a lender and investor in small and middle market businesses, I frequently see significant gaps in business owners and senior executives' knowledge in one or more of the many areas they should know about to successfully manage their businesses. It is not unusual to hear "I wish I had known or thought about ...". The Book on Business from A to Z does an excellent job in identifying, in a clear and concise way, important topics business managers needs to consider. Moreover, it is PRACTICAL - each subject is covered by practicing professionals sharing useful information and best practices. This book may not answer all your questions, but it will certainly help you figure out what questions to ask." Jeri J. Harman; Founder and Partner; Avante Mezzanine Partners

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Business Resource! November 28, 2011
Format:Paperback
I was pleasantly surprised how densely packed this book is with valuable information. I was able to quickly find insightful nuggets of wisdom since the chapters are organized by subject and within them each has concise answers to the top questions typically asked. I've worked in corporate for years so I think I know business. But as an entrepreneur starting up my first venture, I have found it invaluable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good reference + idea primer June 19, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is a collection of essays on important business topics. The essays provide an overview of the topic area and give all the key concepts and ideas. It not only serves as a good reference about topics unfamiliar to the reader but also as an idea primer for other areas. It is not the kind of book to read from start to finish, although you certainly could. For me, I jump around reading topics of interest during odd moments. This book is particularly suited for the Kindle so you can have it with you. I enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential, Critical, Masterful and Irreplaceable! April 5, 2012

Essential, Critical, Masterful and Irreplaceable!

THE Book on . . . Business from A to Z; The 260 Most Important Answers You Need to Know is a masterpiece of simplicity, relevance and un-common-sense. All rolled up into a short easily read, useable reference. I enjoy reading all sorts of business books. This book is one of the best I have found to clearly state significant business subjects. If you're a startup, mid-market and growing, or well established, the book belongs as a meaningful part of the corporate library.

Take a quick view of the section "Y" dealing with Yields. I found it very worthwhile, written by Andy Pattantyus, president of Strategic Modularity. This one section deals with the aspects of yields in a company; how to think about materials, adding or eliminating processes and why. The best about this book is the WHY for business. The book answers questions we knew to ask, but maybe don't understand or the ones we don't know to ask.

Simple, clear and concise, those are the real reasons I buy a book. I want answers and more and better questions. This book gives me more than I expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paperback Drill Down January 16, 2012
By RZ
Format:Paperback
This book could be titled "Things I Should Have Known Prior To Going Into Business". If I had a proper business education like my son, perhaps the terms and concepts included here would have been familiar instead of running head on to them when I went into business for myself. Some things just have to be learned the hard way I guess. Maybe some like the live and learn technique but others may want to take a stab at avoiding the pitfalls of intentional ignorance. This book helps to give a general and remarkably complete primer for business concepts any manager or owner should know OR at some point, will have to know. Because of the way it is organized from a-z, it could be used as a paperback drill down reference book as opposed to casual learning. Either way, a job well done by this writer who I suspect will follow with a next level.....something just past a-z.
