Professor Mbuya is an academic, author, corporate banker, risk specialist, accountant, strategist, turnaround specialist, women and child activist, drug and substance activist, HIV/AIDS activist, and a leadership student. He holds a British MBA and a PhD in Banking. He has written over 30 books and 50 articles, supervised over 150 MBAs.
Dr John Chibaya Mbuya is a global strategist, an international business authority, seasoned corporate banker, author, lecturer and mentor to thousands of managers globally and is regarded as having pioneered many of the systems, procedures and training programmes which companies can put into place to handle the risk aspects of their businesses.
Dr Mbuya a former principal senior lecturer (Banking and Risk Management) in the Department of Economics and Econometrics, University of Johannesburg, where he specialised in Banking and Risk Management. Former senior lecturer at De Montfort University, former Director of Milpark Business School South Africa. Former Professor of International Business at the College of Applied Sciences in Oman and currently MBA Director at the American University in the Emirates.
John graduated from De Montfort University (UK) with an MBA and a PhD in Business Management from University of Johannesburg. He is a seasoned corporate banker, part-time University lecturer in Botswana and Mozambique, part-time HIV/AIDS counsellor in Southern Africa and a women and child abuse activist and a leadership student. He has worked for Nedbank, Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), Teba bank (now Ubank) and the then Saambou bank in South Africa.
John has performed many varied roles ranging from financial accountant to risk management. As well as having considerable practical experience he is also a member of various institutions and an advisory committee member of many financial institutions in SADC. He is the founder and executive director of ASCENDANCY RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALISTS (ARMS).
John has supervised over 150 master's students and 3 doctoral students in South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique. Published over 50 articles in various newspapers, magazines, and journals. John has written and published over 40 books.
