A thin pad can cause the metal spaces in a modern ironing board to show through on the ironed garment. This is a very thick felt pad that eliminates this issue entirely. Note that this pad is NOT a cover. Use a cover that fits your ironing board (and any thin pad that came with it) on top of this thick pad.

I have designed and constructed children's garments (including heirloom) for decades. This pad works for the all-important pressing and finish ironing. I would not use anything else.

While this is a nice, thick piece of felt, it is definitely not designed for an ironing board, nor is it quick and easy to assemble. It's simply a thick rectangle of felt that you have to cut to the shape of an ironing board, yourself (and it's hard to cut!), figuring out whether and how much overlap to leave on. It's very thick, so you can't really bend the edge very well. I had thought this would be shaped for an ironing board and ready to put on, underneath my ironing board cover, but it's not. The illustration is deceptive. I would not buy this agsin.

And it is thick. My ironing has improved greatly since I purchased this pad. Takes the wrinkles out much quicker and easier and eleminates those grid marks from the ironing board. A little pricey in my opinion. I hope it lasts for several years in order to justify the price.

Seemed a really durable pad, its lasted a few months and been flattened down so the mesh marks are coming back....I'll look at an alternative next time

I was mislead by product discription. It does not say that you have to cut it out and the picture shows it as already cut to size. Quality is good but I may have chose another one with a slighly lower price if it was clear that it was a cut out too.

It is important to remember this product is merely a 54-inch-long piece of felt in the shape of a rectangle. You will have to cut this to fit your ironing board. And, remember, you only get a pad. It is not accompanied by an ironing board cover. So, if for some reason you order this felt pad, be sure to also order a good ironing board cover. Or one of the very thick, stretch-y ironing board covers, like the ones made by Polder. It's easy to be mislead by the photo of the ironing board next to this product's description on the Amazon website. There is very little to make this feel like something made for an ironing board.

This pad was exactly what I wanted and the appropriate size (bigger than a regular ironing board). Be aware, though, that it is a pad to go under a regular cover, not the cover itself. That is exactly what I needed to pad my ironing board further.

This pad is perfect for my old ironing board. After buying two cover/pads that claimed to be large enough and weren't, this one worked. It was trivially easy to mark it with a pencil and trim it to size with kitchen scissors. It's nice thick white felt, exactly as described.
