Book Description

THE MAGNIFICAT (A Marian Devotion), is a Montfort-based devotion and is extended in the hope of favoring a true and ever increasing fervor in the service of Our Lady Mary Immaculate. This book will help one gain a deeper insight into the meaning and the mysteries of the Magnificat of Our Lady, especially as these relate to the Eucharistic-centered sacramental system.
The MAGNIFICAT (A Marian Devotion) is a collection of meditations designed to assist the faithful toward a deeper understanding of the Faith, regarding especially the proper intention of Our Lady Mary Immaculate and Her Son The Blessed Sacrament, of whom She is material cause—the Matter, the Mater, of God. This book speaks of the Incarnation in and of the Immaculate Conception not as mere events but as Persons bound in sacrificial love, even as it emphasizes the identity of Mariology and Ecclesiology.
The Canticle of Mary Immaculate, The Magnificat, is the longest passage quoting Her that has been provided us by the writers of the Gospels. Nevertheless, given what has been written until now on the subject, it appears to have been the least explained, if not the least understood.
The MAGNIFICAT (A Marian Devotion), an exposition of the mysteries of the Magnificat, champions Mary Immaculate and defends the sacraments. It does so in the light of the utterances of Her Magnificat as given in the Gospel of St. Luke. As they proceed through this book, our readers shall see that in The Magnificat Our Lord speaks with Her and through Her to us of Her, of Himself in and of Her, of what He has done in Her, and of what He would do in us. Clearly, this book offers our readers true human certitude regarding the meaning of life: its beginning, its nature, and its end, not merely as terminus but as purpose or final cause.
This book is unique in that it demonstrates many of the relationships that obtain between the utterances of the Magnificat and God’s plan of salvation, especially as these relate to the sacramental system. Indeed, the Magnificat is a prophecy, uttered by Mary Immaculate in accord with Her Divine Son, already living in and of Her. The Magnificat is a prophecy not of the coming of the Messiah, but to what end He had already come, and by what sacramental means He would effect those ends. This work is unique in that its reflections and arguments are based neither in time nor in space; they begin and end neither in history nor in geography, but in God’s eternal ubiquity and omnipresence--with no beginning and no ending as terminus; for God is the Source of the Magnificat and of all of prophecy and the Sink of all intelligent creatures who love Him, who pursue Him, and who seek to do His Will.
Lastly, the notion must be stressed that the book should not be intended as light reading. One would do well to study (not merely read) no more than a few pages each day--and if possible in the presence of the Real Presence before the Blessed Sacrament. One should be willing to make some effort and sacrifice toward a better understanding and love of Mary Immaculate, whose humanity is the greatest of all mere creatures; for She is the very best that the God Who Is Almighty can do relative to His Creative-Sanctifying-Salvific Act.
